IB in the News Again this year, the Cleveland Museum of Art is working with Lomond teachers to infuse IB into the class visits to the museum. Lara Mullen, a Boulevard parent, leads the education programming for CMA. She worked with our teachers at the beginning of the year. Each grade level chose a specific time of year to visit the museum based on a particular unit of inquiry (planner). Ms. Mullen trained the docents on the specific unit in order to tailor the visit to Lomond School. Many of the visits focuson one or more key concepts taught as part of the IB units. The concepts are: reflection, responsibility, perspective, connection, change, causation, function and form. What a gift to have this wonderful curriculum connection to the Cleveland Museum of Art. The classes who have already gone to the museum are reporting that the docents are well prepared and the experience has been wonderful! Principal’s Corner School Conferences I heard so much positive feedback about the conferences last week. I hope you were impressed with the ‘Smart’ goals set by your child, the Learner Profile self-evaluation and the work your child’s teacher shared with you. We had 92% participation and continue to follow up with those families who have not been able to come in for a conference. I want to encourage all of you to come to our Book Fair Family Night on Wednesday, November 14, between 5:30-7:30 p.m. Our PTO is sponsoring a pizza dinner. Watch for the flyer and return the form if you plan to participate. We will have a guest appearance from Clifford the Big Red Dog! I hope you all fared well the storm this week with minimal or no damage to your homes. As we head into the winter season, please be sure to check the local news broadcasts for information on school closings. If and when we are closed, be sure to encourage your students to read at home!
