plans for a one million square foot warehouse to be
built, which is one-third of the 60 acres. Plans also
include parking for tractor-trailer trucks with
various accounts putting the number daily at
between 100 to 350. Additional parking would be
for employee vehicles. The Georgia Department of
Community Affairs has completed a regional
impact study on the project and issued a finding of,

to having concerns about the proposed project, are
left with the big question of, “If this goes through
then how long before the next proposal to rezone
the rest of the property and literally be in our
backyards?”
The Waterford board of directors earlier adopted a
resolution in opposition to the project and
delivered it to the City Planning Commission as well
as the Mayor and City Council. A copy of the
resolution was hand delivered to all Waterford

Rezoning Update
All HOA members hopefully know by now of the
proposal by a developer to rezone 60 acres on Old
Mill Road from R-20 to HI. R-20 is essentially 2
residential homes to an acre. HI is heavy industrial.
The 60 acres is the front third of the horse farm
property on Old Mill Road across from the former
Union Carbide plant. The back of horse farm
shares a property line with The Waterford,
specifically some homes on Galway, Waterford,
Hepworth, and Pembroke. The proposal includes
members to attend these meetings as a show of
opposition to the rezoning project. Waterford
homeowners wishing to receive more information
or to sign the opposition petition in circulation
should contact one of the following:

Larry had ridden horses from a nearby stable.
Hearing about the house at the end of the Devon

knew the house because they had previously
admired the location. Location was a real draw for
the couple in addition to liking the floor plan of the
house. The activity of the tennis courts and the

neighbors on the cul-de-sac with whom they have
formed close friendships.
Larry was an avid tennis player at the time. Along
with their two young daughters, the entire family
would spend many days enjoying the pool. Though
Larry no longer regularly plays tennis the couple’s
enthusiasm for the pool and its closeness to their
home has not diminished. Both daughters are now
married and live locally. Jill and Blake Arthur have

ILLEGAL VEHICLE ENTRIES
Homeowners in the neighborhood continue to have
criminals making illegal entry into their vehicles.
Unlocked vehicles in driveways with electronics or
valuables in plain view are easy targets. There have
also been reports of thefts from vehicles in open
garages. Protect your personal property. Do not
leave electronics, wallets, purses or anything of
value in your empty vehicle. Lock your vehicle
upon exiting. If you do have anything stolen be
sure to file a police report. As our police make
arrests and recover items this will assist you in
recovering your items . Also, please send an email
to treasurer@waterfordwebsite.com so we can send
an email alert to our homeowners list serv.
