Answer: There is only one precious gemstone which is extremely valuable. The most precious gemstone is the one that Raidas gave to Meera; which made Meera sing – Payo ji maine Ram ratan dhan payo (I have found the true gem called Ram). No other gem is more precious than that. Meditation and Samadhi sutra (super consciousness) are the most precious ratan, gems. The other pieces of stone can be worn for their beauty and color, if you wish. If you like their beauty, their color, their sparkle - feel free to wear them, there is no issue with that. But if you wear a stone because you think your life will be sorted because of them, the lives of gemstone-sellers will definitely be sorted. I do not support the notion that wearing a gemstone will positively affect your health, business, etc. I do not support the notion that keeping a crystal frog (Feng Shui) at the workplace enhances your business. I do not support the notion that breaking down a particular wall of the house will fix all your problems. Call it Vaastu, Feng Shui, or gemstones – I do not support the notion that they help enhance your life. You may even bring so-called scientific reasons to support such beliefs. You may talk about nine planets and how the colors of these planets are reflected in the different colors of the gemstones and that is how they benefit you. You may reason that the light of these colors is absorbed and that works in favor of a particular thing in life and so on. I don’t deny that they may have some effect. But can you tell me a single thing that doesn’t have an effect at all? Every single thing has an effect. We’re sitting here. The color of the chair is white and what I am wearing is black – this combination will have an effect on the viewers. It is the effect of white that I am clearly visible in contrast, isn’t it? Every single thing has an effect. Each color has a specific effect. What if I ask you to paint the wall in front of your bed sky blue and keep looking at it in order to feel peaceful? In a few minutes you will feel peaceful because sky blue color represents peace. Close your eyes and watch whatever you can see. Initially you will see darkness, but once the color turns sky blue or for that matter any shade of blue, you will experience deep peace. I just proved with reason that sky blue color represents peace. So if you go ahead and actually paint the wall in front of your bed sky blue, are you sure you will feel peaceful? I am telling you, everything has an effect and each effect is affected by other effects. Everything crisscrosses each other. So if you do paint the wall blue, but you’re in the company of your husband, what will the poor sky blue color do? Are you trying to say that a room with sky blue walls will never witness 4 www.schooloflife.co.in a murder? If someone enters the room with an intention to kill someone, will they become prayerful because of the color of the walls? First of all, I do not deny they have no effect at all. Every single thing has an effect. Even the place you’re sitting in at this moment has an effect. The person sitting right in front of me cannot yawn. The one sitting farther away may do so. These effects are really subtle. Nothing is absolute. There is a possibility that the person sitting right in front of me is not able to understand what I am saying. At the same time there is also a possibility that the person sitting towards the end of the hall has so much interest in what I am saying that they understand everything clearly. My point is everything has an effect. You are being convinced by people who believe in this. Most people believe in it because it is their very livelihood. I don’t think that a person who doesn’t deal in gemstones will condemn me. But those who are earning their living through this will emphasize that they have a great impact on your life. No, I don’t support it. Nothing of this sort works. Do you think breaking your house down in a certain way will make your business flourish? Do you think wearing a particular gemstone will make your business flourish, will make you peaceful? Some people are not able to feel calm despite popping pills for high blood pressure, and you’re relying on such things? The high blood pressure also depends on who is keeping you company. I say to you, do not get trapped into these easy temptations. People want miracles. They want things to work in their favor without doing anything. If they’re not able to find a way out, they resort to hoping for miracles. Gemstones are easy and cheap temptations. I know some people who are struggling with each penny and will still pay a considerable amount to buy gemstones; hoping that they’ll make things better. Things do get better for gemstone sellers for sure. Imagine the mindset of the person who thinks life will take a better turn because of gemstones. With a mindset like this, how will this person do anything productive with his life? He clearly has no confidence. If he did have confidence, he would face the situation and find different ways to sort things. But his belief is gemstones and such things proves that he has becomes completely hopeless and can’t think of anything. Such a person is full of negativity and disappointment – and hence will not be able to think of a solution. A person with such mindset will not be able to find a solution because he has already given up. If your most important tool, i.e., your mind surrenders – how will you find a solution? That is why you hope for a miracle. I personally do not support gemstones and other such things. In my view, you have such valuable gems that transform lives for real. Meditation is a diamond. You have the Samadhi Sutra (Sutra for super consciousness), which is even more precious. You have celebration, creativity, and so many wisdom sutras like judge ye not, etc. What can be more 5 www.schooloflife.co.in precious than these gems? I will end my answers from where I started. Ram ratan dhan (the gem called Ram) is the most precious gemstone. All else is just deception. It is alright if you wear them only for their beauty.
