knowledge of type of industry for each entrepreneur interview. Share with class. PPT review (day 4-5).

Day 8- Sept. 19th Apply concepts of entrepreneurship characteristics, classification of business
(industry), and functions of business using the article, “How to Create a Job” by Barbara Kiviat, Time,
March 29th 2010. Reading guide, then Think, Pair, Share activity. What is innovation? Video – Quirky
inventor- sample product (The Spacebar). Discussion on innovation and invention.
Day 9- Sept 21st –Introduction-“What is an Economy”- students are given a definition in Ch 3.
In pairs, define in your own words and share an example of the concept. Share with class. (20 terms)
Day 10- Sept 23rd –“What is an Economy”Describe market and command enonomies
Explain the concept of supply and demand
Explain the effects of market structure on price
Vocab- scarcity, command economy, market economy, productivity, supply and demand,
equilibrium price and quantity, monopoly, functions of business [production-marketing-managementfinance],fixed and variable costs, marginal benefit and marginal cost, opportunity cost, Government
effects on what is produced.

makes a good plan? What is included in the executive summary. Define your company/product on the
handout provided. Submit for classwork grade.
Day 15 – Oct 7th - Writing the ‘PLAN’ – Executive Summary- In the labs, working in teams, complete the
