What Love Looks Like

How delightful is your love, my sister, my bride! How
much more pleasing is your love than wine, and the
fragrance of your perfume more than any spice! Your
lips drop sweetness as the honeycomb, my bride; milk
and honey are under your tongue.
- Song of Solomon 4:10-11

LORD my God, you are very great; you are clothed
with splendor and majesty. The LORD wraps himself in
light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens
like a tent and lays the beams of his upper chambers on
their waters. He makes the clouds his chariot and
rides on the wings of the wind. He makes winds his
messengers, flames of fire his servants.
-Psalm 104:1-4

For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great
is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is
from the west, so far has he removed our
transgressions from us.
-Psalm 103:11-12
Love is Hard to Explain

Scourging
Matthew 27:27-30

Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the
Praetorium and gathered the whole garrison around
Him. And they stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on
Him. When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they
put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And
they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him,
saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” Then they spit on Him,
and took the reed and struck Him on the head.

Matthew 27:51-54

Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two
from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the
rocks were split, and the graves were opened; and
many bodies of the saints who had died were
raised…So when the centurion and those with him,
who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the
things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying,
“Truly this was the Son of God!”
At Jesus’ Death

◦ Sacrifices are over
◦ We can come boldly to God
