• Recognize that as an organism
grows, its appearance may
change.
• Sequence pictures of a frog from
birth to adulthood.
Animals change in size and
shape as they grow.
A frog hatches from jelly-like
eggs.
•Most frogs lay their eggs
in water.
•Each female lays
thousands of eggs at a
time.
A frog begins life as a tadpole.
• A tadpole has no legs.
• A tadpole has a tail.
• A tadpole looks like a small fish.
• A tadpole lives in water.
As It Grows
• The tadpole’s hind legs begin to grow.
• The body becomes thicker.
• The tail shortens.
• The head becomes larger.
In a few weeks the tadpole will
be a frog.
• Adult frogs have legs.
• Adult frogs do not have a tail.
• Adult frogs live on land.
