You sell one and buy a bull. Your herd multiplies, and the economy grows. You sell them and live on the income. You give a tenth to the local priest in Salem and celebrate the provision of God. • You pass your wealth and skill down to your children. 36 Enron Capitalism circa 2000 A.D. at the time of Babylon • You have two cows. You sell three of them to your publicly-listed company, using letters of credit opened by your brother-in-law at the bank, then execute a debt/equity swap with an associated general offer so that you get all four cows back, with a tax exemption for five cows. • The milk rights of the six cows are transferred via an intermediary to a Cayman Island company secretly owned by your CFO who sells the rights to all seven cows back to your listed company. • The annual report says the company owns eight cows, with an option on six more. • You attract investment capital by advertising images of these calves of gold on SuperBowl commericals. • Your company value peaks around a thousand cows, milking your investors until the cows come home, bankruptcy is declared and another false god bites the dust. • You walk away with a hundred cows for all your trouble and wonder what the world is coming to with all those corrupt TV evangelists. 37 Too Fast?
