Transcripts & GPA
The transcript begins with eighth grade. Credit is given for high
school level courses taken in eighth grade. The grade point average
is cumulative, and includes high school courses taken in eighth
grade as well as all courses taken in ninth through twelfth grade. All
courses taken are included in the computation of the GPA. All Pre-IB
and Honors courses are designated by an H or a Y in the course flag
column of the transcript, and earn extra weight of 0.04 per semester
per course. All AP (Advanced Placement) courses and senior IB
courses are designated by a Z in the course flag column and earn
0.08 per course per semester. The weight is added after the GPA is
calculated in the usual manner—by dividing grade points by credits.
The school year is divided into 2 semesters.
Rank in Class
Traditional students at Robinson are ranked within the senior class
of the school. IB students are ranked county-wide because the IB
Program is a magnet program and students are drawn from the entire
district. District policy prohibits the ranking of IB students within the
Robinson High School senior class. Final rank is calculated in March
of the senior year. Robinson High School has two valedictorians and
two salutatorians—one from the IB and one
from the traditional class.

The IB Program is a magnet program drawing students from
22 middles schools and 15 private schools in Hillsborough
County. Admission is by application only.
IB students attend the IB and pre-IB classes with other IB
students, as well as elective classes with traditional program
students. They participate widely in sports, student
government, honor societies, vocational organizations,
service clubs, and fine arts programs such as band,
orchestra and drama with traditional students. To achieve a
balance between homework and extracurricular activities,
they are encouraged to participate in-depth in two or three
extracurricular activities, as opposed to wide involvement.

Graduation Requirements for IB Students
All Robinson IB students are full diploma candidates. During
the junior and senior years, students take three IB courses at
the standard level (SL) and three at the higher level (HL).
Generally speaking, higher-level courses are taught in
greater breadth. Many students add to their IB schedules
electives from the traditional program, such as art, business
technology, music, ROTC, and yearbook, as well as courses
from Florida Virtual School. In addition to the coursework
listed above, each student must complete 200 hours of CAS
(Creativity, Action and Service), and write a 4,000 word
Extended Essay.
