MISSION AND VISION
Core ideology describes an organization’s consistent identity that transcends all
changes related to its relevant environment. Core ideology consists of two
notions: core purpose (or mission)—the organization’s reason for being; and core
values—essential and enduring principles that guide an organization.
Envisioned future (or vision statement) conveys a concrete, but yet unrealized,
vision for the organization. It consists of a clear and compelling catalyst that
serves as a focal point for effort. Based on the Strategic Planning Session
deliberations, the following is the core ideology and envisioned future for

GOAL #1: ENSURE
THAT THE NEEDS OF OUR ASSOCIATION, MEMBERS
AND THEIR PRACTICES CONTINUE TO BE SUCCESSFULLY MET

Develop and secure a strong cadre of leaders at all levels of NYPTA’s operation.

Review and update, as necessary, all governing and administrative functions of the
association to ensure that the mission is met and in the most cost-effective and efficient

Increase perception of NYPTA and its members by policy makers and the general public
as the preeminent providers and voice of the physical therapy profession in New York

NYPTA advocates for improved payment for services provided by physical therapy

Create innovative, convenient methods by which physical therapists and physical
therapists assistants can acquire and integrate knowledge of the profession.

Increase partnerships with PT/PTA educational programs and other strategic allies in
forwarding the mission of the NYPTA.

Increase promotion of the NYPTA and the profession, including the value of
membership.
