Job Title: Manager of Clinical Service OPO/Company: Southwest Transplant Alliance (El Paso, TX) SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Manager of Clinical Services is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Clinical Staff. The incumbent is also responsible for all events which follow a referral of a potential organ donor. The activities also include input into the orientation of new Clinical staff, as well as, any special projects which may be assigned. The incumbent develops and maintains expertise associated with on-site donor evaluation and recovery practices to include, but not limited to, donor maintenance, organ preservation and organ distribution logistics. The incumbent provides Southwest Transplant Alliance with documentation of donor and non-donor activities, to OPTN, Southwest Transplant Alliance Staff, transplant coordinators, laboratory staff, and Texas transplant surgeons. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Science, licensed as a registered nurse or a physician’s assistant, or applicable experience and related training required. 2. 3 - 5 years management experience to include recruiting, training and supervising staff experience preferred. 3. Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator, or eligible through the ABTC. 4. Minimum of three years of critical care experience and one year of expertise in all phases of the organ/tissue donation process and organ preservation. 5. Knowledge of donation issues associated with large metropolitan hospitals. 6. Excellent communication skills required. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and to represent the organization publicly. 7. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team required. 8. Ability to cope with high levels of stress and able to handle a heavy workload. 9. Ability to travel in light and commercial aircraft, or drive his/her personal auto in order to meet all job duties and responsibilities. Current Driver’s license required. 10. Proficient in MS office, including Word, Excel, and Power Point. 1. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Manage and directly supervise the day-to-day activities of the clinical staff. 2. Assist in recruiting, interviewing and training clinical staff. 3. Ensure response to potential donor referrals from hospitals in STA’s donation service area as needed, and conducts necessary practices designed to facilitate donor family needs, hospital staff needs, and organ recipient program needs. These practices should be consistent with the Purpose, Business Definition, and Core Values of Southwest Transplant Alliance. 4. Oversee the clinical aspect of hospital service activity, including follow-up, education and training designed to facilitate donor hospital needs, and organ/tissue programs. These practices should be consistent with the Purpose, Business Definition, and Core Values of Southwest Transplant Alliance. 5. Monitor and control the time accounting of clinical services staff. a) Submit and review time sheets, activity and expense reports. b) Review PTO requests 6. Participate in staff, coordinator, peer, board, and/or committee meetings as deemed appropriate by prior commitments and job responsibilities. 7. Contribute toward the achievement of individual or group goals as determined by the Executive Leadership Team. 8. Maintain timely completion of performance appraisal for the direct reports. 9. Assist the Clinical Educator and Director of Clinical Services in the development and implementation of continuing education/staff development activities and new employee orientation programs. 10. Assist the Director of Clinical Services in assessing departmental needs as they relate to on-site activities, and implement strategies which address identified needs. 11. Provide mentorship, coaching, support and motivation to clinical staff. a. Observe the clinical staff regularly relating to a broad variety of hospital personnel, including intensivists and critical care nursing staff. b. Complete assessments on clinical staff expected activities to allow for professional growth and improvement within the department. c. Ensure that clinical staffs adhere to organizational policies. 12. Rotates Call to provide real-time guidance and direction to all Clinical Services staff. 13. Other duties as assigned.
