In addition to the above mentioned intersection, the intersections with significant crash numbers within the study area include: Cox Road / Green Tce / Newmarket Road (14 crashes); Lamont Road / Newmarket Road (10 crashes); Silvester Street / Noble Street / Newmarket Road (9 crashes); and Grange Road / Raymont Road (6 crashes). The road sections with the top five highest crash numbers occurred at the following locations: Grange Road between Myrtle Street and Dennis Street (6 crashes); Newmarket Road between Laurel Avenue and Finsbury Street (4 crashes); Newmarket Road between Cox Road and Noble Street (4 crashes); Kedron Brook Road between Macgregor Street and Hewitt Street (4 crashes); and Horace Street between Lutwyche Road and Moriac Street (3 crashes). The crash nature of an accident is further defined by the Definitions for Coding Accidents (DCA); crash costs based on DCA code have been developed by Transport & Main Roads (TMR). As part of the federally funded Blackspot program, costs of crashes to the community associated with the crash nature (DCA code) have been developed by TMR and those relevant to the study corridor are summarised in Table 0.1. Crash costs contained in Table 0.1 have been used to calculate the highest community cost by DCA group. Results specific to the study area are illustrated in Figure 0.2 and presented in Table 0.2 and Table 0.3.
