The dimensions of the photograph must be: Horizontal JPG image 5x7 1000 pixels File size must be under 4MB, 4000KB SECTION X: VIDEO The video must be no more than twenty (20) minutes in length and should include all three (3) segments listed under the Video Instructions. To meet this requirement, upload the video in Schoology. NOTE: The size limit of the video is 512mb. Instructions will be sent to the District POC at a later time. Please remember the following: Refrain from sound, picture quality, or lighting issues as they detract from your lesson; Do not read directly from your notes, maintain eye contact at all times; All three segments should be combined into one (1) video; Publish in one of the file formats: AVI, MOV, or WMV; and Do not exceed 512mb. Part I – Description of Lesson This part should be no more than three (3) minutes in length. Talk directly into the camera to give the selection committee the following information: Your name, area and district where you hold the title of Teacher of the Year; Type of class/course you are recording; Grade level of the students in the lesson; Brief introduction of the lesson; How 21st Century skills are being incorporated into the lesson; and If time allows, you may also include what occurred prior to the lesson to set it up and what will happen immediately after the lesson to reinforce the concepts taught. Page 23 DoDEA Teacher of the Year Application Part II – Classroom Lesson This part should be a fifteen (15) minute video of a lesson, continuous and unedited. Do not stop the videotaping for any reason once started as it must be unedited. Try to videotape several lessons and submit the best one. In your video lesson, the selection panel will look for evidence of the following: Your ability to treat students equitably; Your ability to engage students and generate multiple paths to obtain knowledge; Your depth of content knowledge demonstrated by accuracy of explanations and connections to materials students already know; and Students actively participating in the lesson. Make sure the video is NOT centered on you the whole time – the reviewers want to see the students and want to see if they are understanding the concepts or not. It is important that you wrap up the lesson in a neat and clean manner demonstrating that the students have begun to understand the concept. Part III – Description of Educator This part should be no more than two (2) minutes in length. Talk directly into the camera to give the selection committee the following information: A description of your role as a teacher leader at the school level, district level and beyond; In your role as a teacher leader, include a description of how you have made an impact on improving education in DoDEA; and What you are passionate about in education.
