RESPONSIBILITIES Supports Continuing Education faculty and staff with the development of distance education courses for Internet and Blended delivery formats through the production of modalities such as written text, audio, video and other virtual classroom scenarios. Works collaboratively with the Digital Education Strategies team, instructors and faculty to develop, produce and deliver learning materials that apply the concepts of instructional design theory and research. Consults, trains, and serves as a resource person to the Academic Coordinators, SME and faculty members in design, development, evaluation and revision of courses, learning activities, learning assessments and online curriculum support. QUALIFICATIONS NOTE: Successful completion of a Masters in Instructional Design with specialization in Educational Technologies and Elearning, or a Masters degree in a relevant field plus a post-graduate certificate in E-Learning or equivalent, is required. A minimum of three years of relevant work experience in instructional design and digital media production is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Candidates lacking the required experience and eduation may be considered on an underfill basis. Demonstrated knowledge of storyboarding, various multimedia authoring tools and content management applications and the application of multimedia in both a teaching and administrative environment, particularly for post-secondary adult learners. Excellent knowledge and familiarity with the principles of active learning, theories of multiple styles of learning and relevant uses of technology in instruction. Must be familiar with Learning Management System (LMS) and Content Management System (CMS) technologies and with using and evaluating online and multimedia application for instruction. Demonstrated experience with current media technology, practices and pedagogy being used and developed for the new generations of Internet, particularly as these relate to adult learners. Excellent presentation and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver in-house presentations on digital media and media/multi-media related topics and pedagogy to faculty, staff and the external community. An ability to work independently and also as an effective team member; excellent time management skills and flexibility are required to allow efficient management of tight start-up project schedules. Demonstrated experience in adult learning theory and its application and a working familiarity with higher education structure and culture is an asset. A demonstrated commitment to client service - specifically students, staff, faculty and external contacts. Candidates may be asked to demonstrate qualifications through occupational testing.
