A Song — Gloomy Sunday
BOOK3
Unit5
Gloomy Sunday was written in 1933 by
two Hungarians: Rezso Seress (music)
and Laszlo Javor (lyrics). The composer
wrote the song for a former girlfriend.
Since it was supposed to be connected to
many suicides, the song was once
banned. The composer himself committed
suicide in 1968.

Dearest, the shadows I live with are numberless

Not where the black coach of sorrow
has taken you

My heart and I have decided to end it all
