SCHOOL

This booklet was created to give
seniors a resource for Scholarship
information. Not all scholarships are
offered every year so it would be
beneficial to contact the Guidance
Office prior to applying for a
particular scholarship.
We did our best to compile a
comprehensive list of scholarships
and the months in which they are
due, but there may be additional
scholarships in the Guidance Office
that are not listed in here. Please
stop by the Guidance Office
periodically to check the scholarship
files.

FINANCIAL AID ASSISTANCE
Steps in Financial Aid:
1. File for a pin number. Both the student and one parent must
have a Federal Pin Number. The Pin number is the
electronic signature for the FAFSA form. Go to
www.pin.ed.gov to start this process. Once you have
selected your four-digit pin number, to be sure to record
this number and keep it for future use. Make sure you also
complete this information for one parent. It takes two to
three days to process before the pin number can be used in
the FAFSA form.
2. Complete the FAFSA form. Once you have completed the
previous year’s Federal Income Taxes for yourself and your
parent(s), the FAFSA form should be filed. Go to
www.fafsa.ed.gov. Be sure you know the priority deadlines
for completing the FAFSA. Many schools want this
information very early. Getting your taxes done as soon as
possible is most helpful. However, if it is not possible to
meet the filing deadline with information from completed tax
returns, it is better to estimate income than to miss the filing
deadlines. If your taxes have been filed for two weeks, the
IRS retrieval tool will be accessible. Utilizing this option will
allow your tax information to be loaded automatically into
the FAFSA form. This ensures that the FAFSA has been
completed correctly.
3. When you have finished the FAFSA, there will be a prompt
asking you if you would like to file the New York State TAP
application. You should follow the steps to complete the
TAP form at this time.
4. If you need any assistance, please contact me, Mrs. Bush.
