Complete 60 semester units of transferable college credit with a minimum GPA of 2.4 (2.8 for non-resident and International Students) • IVC Courses 1-99 2. Complete the minimum GE pattern, with a “C” or better • Two English composition courses • WR 1/ENG 1A and WR 2/ENG 1B • One transferable Mathematics/Quantitative Reasoning course • Four transferable courses from at least two of the following areas: • Arts and Humanities • Social and Behavioral Sciences • Physical and Biological Sciences • Each course must be worth at least 3 semester units Additional Requirements • Major preparation • Varies for each campus and major…refer to assist.org for major requirements • TAG requirements • General Education (IGETC) • Entry-Level writing • American history and institutions Completing your IGETC • You can apply for IGETC certification via MySite • Log in • Click “My Information” • Click “Degrees, Certs, Transfers” • Click “Apply for Award” • Select the appropriate transfer certification information, follow the instructions, and submit • Be sure to apply early Spring 2015 • Admissions and Records process IGETC requests on a “first come, first serve” basis TAG Applicants… • You MUST fill out a UC Application if you filed a TAG application • The university and major that you selected in your TAG application must match the information you provide in your UC application—if not, your TAG will be voided • TAG applicants will be notified by November 15th of their TAG verification • UCD and UCSC TAG applicants will receive early admission notification by November 15th Apply Broadly • Applying to as many universities as you can—increases your chances of admission! • Be aware, it costs $70 each application • Don’t get stuck with nowhere to transfer next year! • Apply to a top tier school • A school where you have a 50/50 chance • A “back-up” school that you are willing to attend • Consider CSUs, private, and out-of-state schools as well • Apply to 3-5 campuses minimum • http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/transfer/profiles%20/ Selection Criteria • The UC’s do a “Comprehensive Review” • Strong grades and major preparation completion • Involvement, leadership, passion • Evidence of hard work, challenging oneself • Accomplishments within your life experiences • Special talents, achievements, awards • Improvement in academic performance. Academic History Continued Four Sections • High School • Colleges and courses • List all colleges attended • If taking classes in spring, say ending in May 2016 • Choose grading system • Other Academic • Review Academic History Continued Colleges and Courses • Choose all terms attended • If there is a gap in your education, you must explain it Academic History Continued Add ALL classes, with grades. If you don’t see your class listed, click the link on the bottom and manually fill out the course description • This is normal for remedial classes and non-transferable classes Academic History Continued Indicate if you submitted a TAG with a school or are planning on dong another Admissions program • UCLA TAP and UCI Honors to Honors Academic History Continued There is an additional comments box on this page where you can explain anything about your academic history. • Breaks in education • Bad grades • Honors classes not listed • Etc. Activities and Awards • Educational Preparation Programs • Work • Volunteer • Awards • Extracurricular Activities All activities must be done after High School Test Scores • AP Exams • IB Exams • TOEFL or IELTS • International External Exams Must list all scores and tests taken, including failed scores ex: AP test score with 2 or lower Personal Statement Write your two personal statements on a Word Doc, then copy and paste them to the application. It times you out after 30 minutes There is an additional comments box that you can write anything you feel is relevant for your application Review & Submit Once all of the areas are completed you may submit. If there are areas that say “In Progress” it will not let you submit the application. Each application is $70. UC will waive application fees for up to four campuses for qualified students who would otherwise be unable to apply for admission. The fee waiver program is for United States citizens, permanent residents, and applicants eligible for AB540 benefits. After Submitting Your Application • Dates and Deadlines: http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/how-toapply/dates-deadlines/index.html • You will receive an e-mail confirming the application has been successfully filed • The UC will send you an e-mail to notify you when the Application Update (AU) is available in early January • Submit AU to report fall grades and spring schedule by January 31 • Berkeley has a separate supplemental application, also due in January • If you add or drop a course, fail to earn a C or better in a course or enroll in a new college after you submit your application, log back in and update your information online (After you apply | UC Admissions) – available until March 31st…after that, contact UC admissions for each campus you applied to) After Applying: Creating a Web Portal • In early to mid-January, each campus will email you to create a login username and password for access to the campus’ applicant portal. This is where your decision will be posted along with other important information – check each one regularly! • Await the decision.
