Course Outline: Module 3 Integumentary System AHS 115 Medical Terminology The primary goal of this module is: Describe medical terminology related to the Integumentary system. Module 3 – Integumentary System Introduction Have you ever thought of your skin as an organ? Well it is! Skin is the largest organ in our bodies and can weigh over 20 pounds. This module will begin our learning of body systems. We will learn the main function of skin, the components in our skin and even diseases and procedures related to the integumentary system. Learning Objectives After completing this module, students will be able to: 1. Identify and define the combining forms, prefixes and suffixes introduced in this module. 2. Correctly spell and pronounce medical terms and major anatomical terms relating to the integumentary system. 3. List and discuss the four purposes of the skin. 4. List and describe the accessory organs of the skin. 5. Identify and define integumentary system anatomical terms. 6. Identify and define selected integumentary system pathology terms; diagnostic procedures; and therapeutic procedures. 7. Describe an allergic reaction.
