BIOGRAPHY

Captain Michael McCasky, Director – Flight Training, United Airlines

In October 2011, Mike returned to the Flight Training Center to become the Director of

Flight Training. He has been an integral part of the merger of the legacy United and legacy

Continental pilot training. This has included Phase Training, AQP document implementation, the migration of legacy Continental pilots onto the United Learning Network (ULN) and the

Human Factors/Change Review (HFCR) course. Mike also managed the harmonization of the policies and procedures between the Denver and Houston Flight Training Center, and was instrumental in acquiring new training devices and outside simulator time to meet the increased training requirements.

Prior to his current position, Mike was the Southwest Region Chief Pilot for Denver and Los

Angeles and responsible for Flight Operations in both locations, managing over 1,382 pilots.

Originally hired in June of 1990 as a 727 Second Officer, he transitioned to the 737-200 before completion of his first year at United. Shortly after this transition, Mike was hired as a 737-200 Pilot Instructor (PI). In 1994, he became a 737-300 PI. With the addition of AQP to

UAL training programs, Mike went to work for the CRM department developing courseware and training for AQP and Line Operations including LOS Development. He returned to line operations in 1998 as a 737-300 Captain in Denver. In January 2000, he joined the management team as the CRM department manager. Due to structural changes at the training center, he took on the responsibilities of the Captain Development, New Hire and

Instructor Indoctrination Program manager. He returned to the line in late 2002 as an A320

Captain and LCA. Mike joined the domicile team as a flight manager in Denver in August

2003, where he moved up through the organization until becoming the Denver Chief Pilot in

October 2007. In September of 2008, with reorganization,, he assumed responsibilities for the SW region which included the Los Angeles domicile.

Prior to his career at United, Mike flew for Aspen Airways. Before his airline career started,

Mike flew for a number of corporate operators, including Mitsubishi Aircraft, Whittle

Communications and Kroger Foods while exercising his CFII/MEII privileges at the same time.
