Definition


Socialization = process through which people
learn the expectations of a society.
A lifelong process of learning all the
knowledge, skills and attitudes we need to
know to function
Aspects of Socialization

Sociologists focus on
the learning of
behaviour that is
acceptable or
unacceptable in our
society


Psychologists focus on the areas of
socialization that affect the development of
our personality.
Anthropologists see socialization as the
means by which human societies are
produced. Because of socialization we need
to form institutions like families, schools, etc.
Sapienization

Sapienization is the anthropological term for
the process of learning about the components
of society that make it distinctly human
