The Research Project and your Study Plan The Research Project consists of four 6 credit units. At Honours level, these are called Science Research Dissertations Parts 1-4 At Masters level, the first unit is usually called the Literature Review & Research Proposal. There are different codes used but a common one is SCIE5590. This is followed by three other units (Research Project Parts 1-3). Again, there are different codes but the units are the same The Research Project must be taken in the sequence HONOURS MASTERS Research Dissertation Part 1 Literature Review & Research Proposal Research Dissertation Part 2 Research Project Part 1 Research Dissertation Part 3 Research Project Part 2 Research Dissertation Part 4 Research Project Part 3 The Research Project is assessed over two semesters. You cannot put all the four units into one semester in your study plan. The Research Project and your Study Plan - Honours Students (full time) Full time Honours students complete their studies within one academic year (two semesters) Parts 1 and 2 must be included in Semester 1 Parts 3 and 4 must be included in Semester 2. You must complete 24 credit points of taught coursework at Level 4 or Level 5 and gain an average mark of 65% in these units in order to qualify for the Project. The Research Project and your Study Plan - New Masters students: - 2 year program of 96 credits Masters students on a 2 year program requiring completion of 96 credits should take coursework units in Year 1 as far as possible. You can enrol on the Research Project in Year 2 if you wish. You do not have to complete the Research Project: you can choose to study taught coursework units instead. If you do choose the Research Project, please remember: you must enrol on the Research Proposal & Literature Review and Research Project Part 1 in one semester and then Research Projects Parts 2 and 3 in the next semester. You cannot enrol in all four Research Project units in one semester. The requirements for the Research Project are still the same. You must complete at least 24 credit points of taught Level 4 or Level 5 units with an average mark of at least 65% before you can enrol on the Research Project. This means you cannot enrol on the Research Project in your first semester. You can choose to enrol on the Research Project in either Semester 2 of Year 1 or Semester 1 of Year 2, depending on how you choose to balance your coursework. But you MUST take the Research Proposal & Literature Review and Research Project Part 1 in one semester and Research Projects Parts 2 and 3 in the next semester.
