I.S. 239 7C ID 1 and 2 Aimee Kemp February 10, 2012 Mini-Project # 4: Body Systems Story Mini-Project # 4 is here! For this project you may choose to work in pairs or independently to create a story that tells the tale of one of your body systems. This story should be written from the point of view of something involved in the body system that you have chosen. As an example, check out the story about the digestive system that we acted out in class. The following are guidelines that you should use when writing your story: 1) It should be written in the first person narrative 2) It should be written from the point of view of something involved with the body system you have chosen to write about 3) It should be written on one of the body systems we have been studying (it can be written about more than one system as long as they are related) 4) All organs, cell types, etc. mentioned in the story should be related to the body system you have chosen to represent 5) The story can be written in any format you would like 6) The story should include images related to your chosen body system (illustrated by you, collage, internet photos etc.) 7) As always, if you do any outside research, or use the textbook to help you find information on your body system, you must include a bibliography of your sources 8) The story must describe the function of your chosen body system 9) The story must describe the important organs and other parts that make up the body system you have chosen 10) The story should be creative, informative, and capture your reader’s attention 11) The story should have an interesting title 12) The story must include the name(s) of the author(s) 13) The story does not have to have the proper Mark Twain heading 14) The story can be any length you wish as long as it follows all other instructions 15) The story can be hand written or typed in any font as long as it is not typed/written in yellow, neon colors, red, or green The body systems that you may choose to write about include: 1) Nervous system 2) Muscular system 3) Skeletal system 4) Digestive system 5) Circulatory system 6) Respiratory system 7) Lymphatic system 8) Excretory system 9) Urinary system 10) Integumentary system (this is the skin) You will have time to work on this assignment in class. However, most of the work should be completed at home. Now that we have started this assignment, all story materials should be brought to school until it has been turned in. Below is a calendar of important dates: -Decide whether to work independently or with a partner by Friday 2/10/12 -Choose body system by Tuesday 2/14/12 -Brainstorming materials due by Wednesday 2/15/12 -Summary of what story will be about by Thursday 2/16/12 -Rough draft by Friday 2/17/12 -Bring draft for peer editing by Monday 2/27/12 -Final draft due Friday 3/2/12 * The rough draft, brainstorming materials, summary, and peer editing sheet must all be turned in with the final draft (do not attach them together)
