Quizlet In-Class Activity and Detailed Instructions to Register
If you joined Ms. Ruddock’s class last year you do NOT need to re-register. So start practicing!!
To REGISTER:
Otherwise for all new quizlet account users…go to www.quizlet.com
1. Click on sign-up. DO NOT CLICK the options to sign up with facebook or Google or you won’t have access
to your account on school computers.
2. Fill in the information: YOU MUST USE THE FOLLOWING AS YOUR USERNAME AND PASSWORD!!!
a. Username: firstnamelastname (NO CAPS NO SPACES)
b. Email
c. Password: Use your STUDENT ID NUMBER &the first letter of your first name This is the same
number you use to log onto school computers.
3. Click “I agree” and sign-up.
4. Click on “Start using free quizlet”
5. On the left-hand side click on “Add a class”
6. Search for “Espanol Uno Ruddock” then scroll down until you see Ms. Ruddock’s class and click join class.
a. Spanish II “Español Dos Ruddock”
For AP: AP Español Ruddock
7. Once you have requested to join, until I accept but please begin practicing in the meantime.
**If you already have a quizlet account with a different username sign-in, click on Settings, then change your
username to reflect your firstnamelastname. Ej: shastaruddock You can only change your name in quizlet once.
Quizlet Lab Activity:
Today you will be practicing the vocabulario so study up friends!
 First: To receive participation points today you will need to physically show the substitute (or your
guardian) your computer screen (no…. uh oh I accidently closed out) that shows an 75% proficiency
under the SPELLER or LEARN modes. (not space race or scatter) 10 points
 Please keep in mind that everywhere you click can be traced! So do not mess around. Any student
who is on ANY webpage besides my webpage or www.quizlet.com will receive a zero for the day.
No questions asked. You must be on task and working at all times.
 Thinking about taking out your cellphone….DONT! The substitute will confiscate any cellphones she
finds and leave your name for me. You will then have to handwrite the following sentences numbered
1-100 to get your phone back from me (or the office).

 Now….scary part over, when you have completed learn or spelling with an 75% or better you are
welcome to continue competing against your classmates at space race or scatter.
Top scorers at the beginning of each week for each activity on quizlet (scatter, space race, learn) will
compete for the “Campeones de Quizlet” to receive a free HW coupon.

Directions to Sign-up as a Teacher and set your account up:
1. Go to www.quizlet.com
2. Click on sign-up.
3. Fill out the required information.
a. Note: You will need to open your email and confirm your account information
before it will fully register your account.
To upload a vocabulary list using excel.
1. Create an excel document with the term in the first column and the definition in the
second column.
1) I suggest always creating the list in excel instead of directly in quizlet because then
you can use the same vocabulary list for other apps and programs like
www.studyblue.com
2. Then in quizlet click the folder on the top with a plus sign to “Create a New Set”
3. Title your set: I suggest using highly specific titles so they can be easily found by
students. “Ruddock Descubre I Leccion 1”
1) Enter the subject area
2) Enter a brief description of what the set includes (this allows others to search by
content (ie. English pre-fixes” instead of your specific set)
3) Uncheck the box for “Allow set discussion”. You are welcome to leave this if you
want, but I do not want to monitor student or internet user comments for
inappropriate comments on my quizlet site so I have chosen to disallow.
4) Click “Import Data”
5) In your excel document highlight the terms & definitions to be uploaded.
6) While terms are highlighted copy them (control c)
7) In quizlet copy paste the data into the appropriate box. (control v)
8) Click import. Your terms will appear below.
9) At the top of each column choose the appropriate headings (in my case Spanish:
English) In other subject areas this may be Term and Definition
10) Click on create set and you are ready to roll!
11) Students can now study your set: at the top you will see buttons to edit the set,
add to a class, or print the set.

i. More importantly share the set. (via the url….this is a direct link to your
flashcards and students and the public do not need a quizlet account to
access the set) You can also email the set to others under share.
ii. If you do not want to share your set with others, you can change this setting
under info.

Under your sets click the button at the top “Join or create a class”
Name the class, again I suggest being Specific Ruddock Español Uno
Click “Create your own” and name the class.
IMPORTANT: Uncheck “Allow other members to add sets and new members”
1) Unless you want to spend your life monitoring the content of every vocabulary set on
your quizlet site I would highly suggest unchecking this box.
IMPORTANT: Type in “Cheney High School” under Search for School
1) This is important because when students register they can search to see all the teachers at
CHS with accounts on quizlet. They will also be able to use these criteria to search for
your set more efficiently.
Click “Create Class”
You can now “Invite” students. I have done this in class at times. After using quizlet for
instruction I will click the invite button and students who are interested in joining your quizlet
class can type in their email and have easy access to join your class. You can also share the link
to your class.
NOTE: Once students have joined your class, you will need to accept them for them to
show up on your roster and compete against classmates.
1) Click on the folder at the top “My Sets”
2) Each of your classes will appear at the top of the page. Click on the appropriate class.
3) Click “accept” as appropriate. These students will now appear as members in your class.
To see who holds the record for each game and each set
1. Click on the folder at the top “My Sets”
2. Each of your classes will appear at the top of the page. Click on the appropriate class.
3. Click on the set students have been assigned to practice.
4. Click on “scores”. You will then be able to see the top ten students for each game.
To monitor who is studying what, when and under which activity…
1. Click on the folder at the top “My Sets”
2. Each of your classes will appear at the top of the page. Click on the appropriate class.
3. All of the sets for this class will be displayed

4. You will then be able to see who is studying what set indicated by the green icon as well as
which game they are playing.
5. If you really want to be hard core you can click on the student to see what study modes have
been accessed (aka which games/activities), when they last studied as well as the statistics for
the individual student.
