Feasibility study: Marketing
This sample has been compiled by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority
(QCAA) to help teachers plan and develop assessment instruments for individual school settings.
It demonstrates the following dimensions:
 Knowing and understanding business management
 Applying and analysing management strategies
 Evaluating and communicating management strategies

You have been exploring small-scale business and examining case studies
about marketing opportunities.
Task
A small business aims to increase its market share and competitiveness by
launching a new range of products, e.g. introducing organic smoothies at a
local café. Prepare a marketing feasibility study to assess the viability of
introducing the new product range.


Guidelines
 Conduct primary and secondary research to gather data on the
business, its environment, competitors and marketing.
 Use the data from your research to select and organise information into
a SWOT analysis and competitor analysis.
Your feasibility study will:
 describe the current business environment, including the target market
 explain the business’ current marketing strategies
 use the SWOT analysis and the competitor analysis to:
 identify and analyse issues with the business’ marketing
 interpret the marketing trends, patterns and relationships
 evaluate the marketing strategy of introducing the new product range
and its impact on the business
 recommend whether it is feasible to implement the new product range,
