CURRICULUM TOOL – CELL TRANSPORT
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
New York State Core Curriculum:
WAYS YOU WILL BE ASSESSED:
Living Environment NYS Regents – August 2013
Cell Membrane Properties
1.2g Each cell is covered by a membrane that performs a variety of functions. These include: separation from the
environment, controlling which molecules enter and leave, and recognition of chemical signals.
1.2i Inside the cell a variety of molecules form specialized structures that carry out transport of materials and
waste disposal via the cell membrane.
1.2j Receptor molecules play an important role in the interactions between cells. Two ways cells communicate
are by hormones and chemicals produced by nerve cells.
Passive Transport
1.2g The process of diffusion is important in the movement of materials in and out of cells.
Active Transport
1.2g The process of active transport is important in the movement of materials in and out of cells.
