Homonyms
• Homonyms, or homophones, are words that are spelled
differently, have different meanings, but are pronounced
alike. Usually, they come in pairs. Sometimes they come
in triplets.
• Examples: The most common errors to be aware of
include: 1) principal, principal; 2) there, their, they’re; 3)
through, threw; 4) to, too, two; 5) whether, weather; 6)
which, witch; 7) its, it’s.
