Using the PTC Competitive Wiki for Windchill Campaigns Overview This document is a companion piece to the PTCU COURSE : USING THE PTC COMPETITIVE WIKI FOR WINDCHILL CAMPAIGNS. The demonstrations from this course are captured in this document for you to reference if necessary. Demonstration 1: User Interface and Navigating the Site Example: Navigate to Major Windchill Competitors for SMB PLM Siemens Information Simply log in to the Competitive Wiki and use the competitors table located on the home site to quickly find out Windchill competitors in the SMB PLM space. Figure 1 - Competitive Wiki Competitors Table From the Competitors you can quickly view that PLM Competitors in the SMB Market are: Siemens – Teamcenter Express Dassault Systems – Enovia SmarTeam SolidWorks – SolidWorks Enterprise PDM Oracle – Agile PLM PTC Proprietary Information Page 1 Example: Navigate to Siemens PLM Products Information From the Competitors table on the Competitive Wiki Home site, select on the either the Teamcenter Unified or the Teamcenter Express Link. Siemens PLM Products o Teamcenter o Teamcenter Express o Siemens Collaboration o Siemens Quality Management Figure 3 - Competitive Wiki Navigation Tree Example: Navigate to Learn how to Compete Against SAP Information If you are on a content page, it’s very easy to navigate back up to the Competitive home site. Simply select the Competitive Wiki link in the Site breadcrumb. Figure 4 - Breadcrumb Links PTC Proprietary Information Page 2 From the home page, navigate to the SAP row and select on the General Company Info link from the Windchill competitors table. Figure 5 - Competitive Wiki Competitors Table: SAP From the Company Information page, you can directly access the Wiki Child Pages at the bottom of the right column on the page. In this list of links, select the How to Compete against SAP link. On this page you will find out that SAP will try to leverage their ERP installation and make the argument that they own the manufacturing BOM and therefore can easily own the design BOM. Figure 6 - Competitive Wiki Navigation Tree Example: Navigate to Data Management offerings from SolidWorks You can always navigate back to the Home site and leverage the Product Table, but it’s easy to navigate the Competitive Wiki Site Tree. Select on the Arrows next to SolidWorks, then SolidWorks Enterprise PDM. Now select on the EPDM MCAD Data Management link. In the middle of this page you will find out that SolidWorks Enterprise PDM only supports the following CAD offerings: Pro/E AutoCAD Inventor SolidWorks Figure 7 - Competitive Wiki Navigation Tree PTC Proprietary Information Page 3 Demonstration 2: User Interface and Navigating the Site Example: Using Direct Links to Top Differentiator for SolidWorks Enterprise PDM Navigate the Competitive Wiki Home Page and locate the SolidWorks Row in the Windchill section of the Competitors table. Select on the SolidWorks Enterprise PDM link. Figure 8- Competitive Wiki Competitors Table: SolidWorks At the bottom web part in the right column on the page is the Child Wiki Links. Select on the EPM Top Differentiators link to quickly find this information. Figure 9 - Wiki Child Pages Example: Searching for Pricing Information To search for information, navigate to the top right corner of any page. You will find a search box under the Add to Favorite Sites icon. Simply type in your search string and you results will appear in the browser. Figure 10 - Search Field Search Results can be refined further by using the Search Filters on the left column of the pate. You can use the filters of type, such as are you looking for a webpage or a PowerPoint presentation, author, modified date and Competitor (if applicable). PTC Proprietary Information Page 4 Figure 11 - PLM Pricing Search Results Example: Searching for Dassault’s Visualization Tool Navigate to the top right corner of any page and enter the search field of Dassault visualization. Figure 12 - Search Field A search result not only contains a link to the resulting content, but also provides a short description and metadata on the content such as the author, date last modified and file size. Also listed is the full link to the search result. Figure 13 - Search Result for 3DVIA: Dassault's Visualization Tool PTC Proprietary Information Page 5 Example: Posting a Question on Discussion Forums Posting a question on the Competitive Discussion forum is very simple. Navigate down to the bottom of the discussion forum and select Add new discussion. Figure 14 - Posting a Question on a Discussion Forum After selecting this link, a wizard will open for you to enter the subject and then the body of your posting. You can attach files, change the body font, and such as embolden text and changing color. Also you can add Tags to your posting to help others in searching the Discussion Forums. Figure 15 - Add New Discussion Wizard Once a discussion has been posted, you can add a comment by replying to the posting. Select the Reply icon to the right of the posting link and a similar wizard to adding a new discussion will appear. Figure 16 - Replying to a Discussion PTC Proprietary Information Page 6 Example: Finding an Expert Every content page has a link to Find An Expert on the competitive product. On the right column of all content pages, you will locate the Find An Expert web part with a link to the competitive product. Figure 17 - Find an Expert: Siemens Link Selecting the link will take you to all identified experts for that competitive product. In the left column on the page, you can filter the results to refine the results. Within the results, the experts contact information and email is listed for you to directly ask a questions if necessary. Figure 18 - Find an Expert Results: Siemens Demonstration 3: User Interface and Navigating the Site Example: Setup email alerts on content pages to be sent on an immediate interval. On every content page you can setup a subscription for when there are changes to the page. Navigate to your desired topic page and then select the Page Tab at the top of the page. This will open up the Microsoft Ribbon. PTC Proprietary Information Page 7 Figure 19 - Page Tab and Microsoft Ribbon Located in the middle of the Microsoft Ribbon is the Alert Me icon and pulldown menu. Select the action of Set an alert on this page.
