A letter from the Secretary General: Roohi Kumar
Welcome to the 2012-2013 Model UN Banquet. It’s an exciting time as we say goodbye to our
fellow seniors, and welcome those who are receiving new secretariat positions! Tonight is about
recognizing those who have put so much effort into making our program what it is today. The
year consists of hard work, hours of dedication, sleepless nights of research, and, of course,
memories beyond memories! We’ve spent quite a bit of time together through class time, night
debates, regular and overnight conferences, training, and roasts. It has been a wonderful year
and there are several people to thank for that.
To the parents: This year, all of you did a phenomenal job with everything, and there is no
possible way that our MUN year would be as successful as it was without your support. The
countless hours that you spent planning, the donations, the days that you spent at school in
preparation for our conference – your contributions are endless. Thank you for volunteering time
from your busy schedules to help make our MUN program such a success!
To the advisors: Mrs. Geiger, Mr. Weinberger, and Mr. Brown – we can’t thank you enough!
The amount of time the three of you have dedicated to the program is unfathomable. Through
training, conferences, night debates and much much more, you three have always been there to
help us. Your patience is truly remarkable in dealing with our forgetfulness and the chaos that
we highschoolers bring along. You three are the foundation of this program, and I’m sure all of
the students will agree when I say that MUN has truly made us stronger individuals. We’ve
grown as public speakers, researchers, debaters, and as people overall. Thank you for
everything; the past four years have truly been unforgettable!
To the Secretariat: It’s been so much fun working with all of you this year; I couldn’t have
asked for a better group! This year was truly a success as organization for the conference went
extremely smooth this year. I thank all of you for your patience with and dedication to the
program, and more importantly, to the leadership class. You’ve all worked so hard in setting the
example in diplomacy, debate, training, and award winning. You all are an amazing group and I
wish the best of luck to next year’s secretariat! You’ve all done a great job this year!
To the seniors: One of the best things about being in MUN for the past four years is the people
I’ve met and the friendships that each and every one of us has formed. This year’s seniors truly
made MUN an amazing experience. The memories that we’ve created at each conference and
during class will stay with us forever as we move onto the next chapter of our lives. Despite our
extreme senioritis, I’d say we did a pretty awesome job this year! You are all amazing people,
and I wish each of you the best of luck in wherever your future may guide you. Thank you for
everything!

As Secretary General this year, I cannot express how amazing this program truly is and how

chairs want to be, and all delegates want to have.
UCLA 2013 - Murica Ties. Running across the entirety of UCLA and Westwood to
reach Fat Sal's in under five minutes, and then ordering the USS Diabeetus of all
sandwiches, the most delicious, amazing thing my mouth has ever consumed.
