Strong subject knowledge is recommended before you start training • If you are offered a place but your degree does not link closely to your chosen teaching subject it is recommended that you undertake a subject knowledge enhancement course before you begin training (or in conjunction with commencing training) Bluecoat Academy are registered with the NCTL (National College for Teaching and Learning) and offer up to TEN days’ school experience through the School Experience Programme (SEP) Spending time in a classroom is the ideal way to strengthen your application for teacher training. School experience gives you the chance to see for yourself what it's really like to be a teacher – and supports your application and interview. What can you expect? Throughout your placement, you'll have the opportunity to observe teaching and to talk to teachers about day-to-day life in a school. You should get the chance to see a range of different lessons and age groups being taught. How to sign up for a placement on the SEP If you haven't already, you'll need to register with the Teaching Line before you can participate. If you're eligible for the programme, once you have registered you will receive a registration number this means you can book a placement with Bluecoat Academy through the SEP booking portal and an email will be sent through to us.
