The Power of Advertising! Is it in you? HELP WANTED: Introduction: • The Wiifoolem Ad Agency is looking for a team of students to head up its new advertising department. The job pays well, so there will be a lot of competition for the position! Limited TV watching experience required. Through our training program, you will pick up tips from the pros on how to advertise effectively. If interested, continue... Group Task • The task of this WebQuest is to learn the many different ways advertisers sell their products to the public. • Create a new product to sell including packaging and an ad poster. • Create a script for a commercial selling your new product, and film it in front of the class! Process Before you choose roles, brainstorm what your new product will be. Practice your design skills: Once you have perfected your skills, use a http://pbskids.org/dontbuyit/advertisingtricks/ paper and pencil to draw a rough draft of your product. Work with the Project Manager to create a poster to advertise for your product. Create a list of materials you will need to complete your final product design. You may use an existing product to cover with paper, use a box of tissues, water bottle.. Etc. (you and your group might have to bring in some materials from home) Use what you have and begin! Group members lacked cohesiveness with their group members and had difficulty using time well. Product design shows little to no creativity or originality. Poster is sloppy and shows very little effort. Students demonstrate little or no creativity or originality in the presentation of their commercial. Group members completed the task more individually than collaboratively. Group showed some ability to use time effectively. 3 points Assumed assigned role throughout, worked well with all members of group, contributed beyond what was expected. Group members worked collaboratively, contributing evenly in the overall project. Group displayed a good use of the time given. Product and poster show some creativity and originality. Product is well done and shows creativity and originality. It is obvious that much time was spent creating the poster.
