Organization’s Mission
• The mission of the Study New York consortium is to work
collaboratively with its member colleges, universities and
partners through special programs and global outreach to
promote New York State internationally as the premier
education destination for students, researchers, visiting
professors and other exchange visitors.
• Officially established July 14, 2009

There are more than 270 degree-granting institutions of higher education in the state: 148
independent private universities and colleges; two public (tax-supported) systems, the State
University of New York (SUNY) at 64 campuses throughout New York State, and the City
University of New York (CUNY) which is made up of 20 colleges and universities, and; 41
proprietary (for-profit) institutions.
