Dear Faculty Advisors and Delegates, My name is Livio Alessandro Zanardo. It is my distinct honor and pleasure to serve as Secretary General for the Florida International Model United Nations 2016 conference, which will take place on March 11th through March 13th, 2016. Our entire staff and secretariat has been working diligently to deliver an engaging and rewarding experience that will push, challenge, and expand the views, skills, and characters of all students attending. If this is your first time attending FIMUN, we hope that our conference provides an educational and competitive experience that fosters your curiosity and interest for International Affairs and the United Nations, just as Model UN has done for each one of our delegates. If you are a FIMUN veteran, I am absolutely certain that I speak for the entire conference staff and secretariat when I say that FIMUN2016 will offer you new opportunities to test and expand your knowledge and interests in International Affairs and global issues that are pertinent to the past, the present, and the future of the international community. We are proud to announce that our theme for FIMUN 2016 is Shaping The Future, Learning From The Past. As we host committees from a variety of time periods and locations, delegates are encouraged to think about the course of history as we know it, how that history forged the present, and the challenges and solutions that await the future of international community during their participation in FIMUN2016. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us. We will gladly assist you to resolve any issues you may encounter on your way to FIMUN2016. We are looking forward to hosting you and your delegation for a weekend full of substantive and exciting debate in March, and wish you the best of luck in your preparations for the conference. It is the our duty to continue the legacy of providing an unforgettable conference experience that will keep students motivated to further develop their interest in International Affairs. As the Under Secretary-General for the General Assemblies for FIMUN2016, I have enhanced the traditional GA committee style, and revamped it by finding a diverse common ground between current pertinent international crises, historical revolutions, large size-cabinets, and international summits. Delegates can expect substantive debate that will test their knowledge and diplomatic skills over the course of our General Assembly committees. The passion and dedication of our staff is aimed towards creating a scholarly environment in which high school students feel rncouraged and driven to debate the issues presented, and ultimately come to unique and innovative resolutions. Our hope is that delegates create productive discussions in order to challenge one another, but all at once learn the power that emerges from building coalitions through persistent leadership and cooperation. On behalf of the Florida International University Model United Nations team, and the Steven J. Green School of International Affairs, it is my honor to welcome you to the 28th FIMUN High-School Model United Nations Conference.
