Nance, RN
Director of Clinical Operations
Nance has over 30 years of experience in the behavioral health and wellness
industries and has held a variety of leadership positions in various healthcare
settings. She has provided overall operational and strategic direction for the
Employee Assistance Program (EAP), work/life services, Lifestyle Management
Programs, 24-hour Health Information Line, Health Advisor and Personal Health
Team programs at Cigna and currently oversees the Integrated Personal Health
Teams. Nance’s primary focus is to ensure clinical and cost effective outcomes in
the areas of program development, clinical operations, and quality management.
Nance joined Cigna in 1989 as the Health Solutions Manager for Care Management
and Crisis Services. She has also served as Director of Product Development, and
the Director of EAP. Nance focuses on high quality, solution-oriented health and
wellness programs and has been instrumental in the development of numerous
lifestyle management, chronic condition support and behavioral modification
programs. She is a registered nurse with direct care and leadership experience in
crisis management, inpatient and outpatient mental health, partial hospitalization,
and residential treatment settings.
Nance has presented at several industry conferences, and has authored or
contributed to articles in The Journal of Employee Assistance, Business Insurance
magazine, and Fortune Small Business magazine related to EAP and other health,
wellness, and productivity topics.

Samuel, RN
Clinical Supervisor
The supervisor is accountable for directing case management activities to control
the costs of high-risk, high-cost cases. Specific responsibilities include, but are not
limited to: identifying cost-effective protocols for high-risk, high-cost diagnoses;
and, developing and administering guidelines for working with employees,
employers, policyholders, healthcare providers, patients, and families to determine
appropriate, cost-effective care plans. The supervisor ensures customer
satisfaction through operational delivery of quality health advocacy and health
coaching services. The supervisor acts as a liaison and collaborates with all matrix
partners within the organization - Quality, Medical, Product, Systems, Training and
Sales. Recruits, selects and hires qualified staff and maintains quality improvement
and ongoing personal development of all staff. Supervises, monitors, and reviews
performance of the team to assure that health advocacy and health education
services are delivered promptly, cost effectively, courteously, and according to
policy and procedure, appropriate health advocacy and wellness standards, and
quality assurance standards.
Samuel has been in the health care field for the past twenty nine years. Prior to
joining the Integrated Personal Health Team, he worked with Cigna's Expert
Resources Team for Disability Management Solutions, acting as a clinical resource
for the review of disability claims. Samuel has clinical experience in the treatment of
child and adolescent psychiatry and additional experience in adult psychiatry,
chemical dependency treatment, employee assistance programs, and case
management. He also has leadership experience, having worked as a supervisor for
outpatient access, referral services and utilization management.
Samuel has a bachelor of science degree in nursing from the University of
Oklahoma. He is licensed by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas,
Oklahoma and California.

Sallie
Clinical Lead & Health Educator
A health educator is responsible for providing wellness coaching to members
through telephonic assessment, education, support and referral for various health
and wellness programs. Health educators use techniques such as motivational
interviewing and behavior change to help people achieve optimal health and wellbeing. Also, the health educator supports members working in conjunction with an
existing team of health advocates and is an integral part of the Integrated Personal
Health Team. Sallie will focus on preventative health that emphasizes the
importance of lifestyle changes for the whole person. She will provide health
assessments to determine current health needs and work with members to set and
meet health goals.
Sallie has been in the healthcare field for almost fourteen years. She has worked in
a children's hospital setting as a senior financial counselor for seven years, guiding
families in applying for government health insurance programs. Sallie has worked
as a clinical exercise physiologist in a cardiac rehab setting. She also has
experience in a corporate fitness setting as a health fitness specialist. Additional
health & wellness experience includes coordinating biometric health screening
events for employers nationwide and wellness program management for clients of a
private risk management company. She has been in wellness coaching operations
for seven years, providing front-line coaching both face-to-face and telephonically,
developing coaching program content & materials, as well as providing leadership
and training for novice health coaches.
Sallie has a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology with a minor in science from
Texas Woman's University in Denton, TX. She has a master’s of science in health
promotion with a minor in human resource management from Nebraska Methodist
College. She also holds professional certifications from The Cooper Institute in
coaching healthy behaviors and providing dietary guidance and is certified for basic
skills for working with smokers from the University of Massachusetts, medical
school. She is also a certified wellness program coordinator thru the Chapman
Institute.

Amanda
Health Educator

Prior to joining Cigna, Amanda worked in the corporate wellness and fitness
industry as a health and fitness professional. Amanda created custom wellness and
incentive programs to help guide employees toward leading healthier lifestyles.
Amanda also administered health screenings for large corporations’ employees
throughout the Midwest. She has additional work experience as a group exercise
instructor and personal trainer.
Amanda has a bachelor of science in exercise science from University of Nebraska
at Kearney. She is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and an AFFA Certified Group
Exercise Instructor.

Akua, MS
Health Educator

health administration in various settings for over 10 years. She has worked as a
corporate wellness specialist. She is also a motivational/ public speaker, writer,
researcher, educator and life coach. She has additional work experience as an
executive director of an international humanitarian organization where she was
involved in initiating and supporting women’s groups; implementing and
participating in health promotion and education programs (on topics such as
personal development, nutrition, health and wellbeing, hygiene, sanitation, and
disease education, prevention and management); opening and administrating
clinics; clean water processes; and providing orphan care.
Akua is a Certified Health Education Specialist; has a Master of Science in Health
Science (pending thesis approval) from University of Texas at Tyler; a Bachelor of
Science in Health Science from University of Texas at Tyler; and an Associate of
Science in Biology from Tyler Junior College.

Health Educator

Dionna holds a bachelor of science in nutrition and fitness from the University of
Missouri-Columbia. She also holds a certification as a Health Promotion Director, in
personal training, group exercise instruction and coaching healthy behaviors.

Nurse Case Manager
Registered Nurse/Case Managers are responsible for delivery of case management
services, coaching, educating and supporting people in need of life style changes
for health improvement. Case Managers establish a collaborative relationship with
the member’s, family, physician(s), and other providers to determine medical
history and current status and to assess the options for optimal outcomes. In
addition, they continually assess the member’s health status and treatment plan
and identify any gaps or barriers to healthcare. The documented patient centric
case management plan involving all appropriate parties is continuously monitored
and evaluated to identify anticipated case results/outcomes, criteria for case
closure, and promote communication.
Aimee has been in the healthcare field for eighteen years. Prior to joining Cigna,
Aimee was working as a hospice case manager where her duties included primary
nurse, weekend on-call nurse, admissions and mentoring. Aimee feels that ensuring
quality of living is important at every life stage. Aimee holds a certification in
Hospice and Palliative Care Nursing. Her previous work experiences include
neurology, surgical, shock/trauma and cardiology intensive care settings, post
anesthesia care, hyperbaric therapy, and home health. Aimee was also a travel
nurse for 5 years, taking short-term nursing assignments at hospitals in 6 different
states.
Aimee has a bachelor of science degree in Nursing from DeSales University in
Center Valley, Pennsylvania.

Judy has an associate of science degree in nursing from Regents College University of the State of New York. She also holds current certifications in Case
Management from the Commission for Case Management Certification and is Board
Certified as a Nurse Case Manager through American Nursing Credentialing Center.

Nurse Case Manager
As an RN/Case Manager, Patricia will be responsible for delivery of case

communication.
Patricia has thirty-two years experience in the healthcare field. Patricia has been
working as a Registered Nurse/Case Manager for Cigna since October 2010. Prior to
joining Cigna she was working as a wound, ostomy, and continence nurse. Patricia
has previous experience in home health care, acute care, long term intensive care,
medical-surgical units, skilled nursing facilities serving as department head and
staff. Patricia also has experience in education creating and giving educational inservices to physicians, RN’s and nurse aides.
Patricia received her bachelor of science degree in nursing from Texas Christian
University in 1977 and completed The University of Texas at Houston M D
Anderson, School of Enterostomal Therapy in 1993.

Dominique has a master of science degree in nursing with a concentration in health
care systems management from Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana and a
bachelor of science degree in nursing from Grambling State University in
Grambling, Louisiana. Dominique is also a Certified Case Manager.

Behavioral Case Manager

post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression and personality

professional counselor (LPC), and before joining Cigna Corporation, was a
counselor at several non-profit agencies. Pamela has also been a human
development/psychology adjunct faculty member at Richland College since 2008.
Pamela holds a bachelor of science degree in psychology from Texas A&M
University, a master of science degree in hospital and healthcare administration
from University of Alabama in Birmingham, and a master of arts degree in
professional counseling from Argosy University – Dallas. Pamela is also a licensed
professional Counselor in the state of Texas.

Melanie
Personal Advocate Supervisor
Personal Advocates serve as the first point of contact for inbound callers within
the Integrated Personal Health Team who are looking for referrals, benefit
information, claim information, and/or to enroll in specific programs and obtain
resources. Advocates will function as the coordinator for all coaching
interventions, aiding in the integration and coordination of all health care needs
and will determine the caller's goals and motivations, and then assign that
individual to an appropriate clinically-trained health advocate.
Melanie has been in the healthcare field for four years. Prior to joining Cigna,
Melanie worked with a Colorado county health and human services department in
projects, providing communities with education and resources for all-hazards
planning. In her three years at Cigna, she served as a Personal Advocate for the
behavioral health department before being appointed as Supervisor over the
Personal Advocates of the Integrated Personal Health Team.
Melanie received her bachelor of the arts degree in psychology with a minor in
sociology from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Priti
Personal Advocate
As a Personal Advocate, Priti serves the first point of contact for inbound callers
within the Integrated Personal Health Team. She will function as the coordinator for
all coaching interventions, aiding in the integration and coordination of all health
care needs and will determine the caller's goals and motivations, and then assign
that individual to an appropriate clinically-trained health advocate.
Prior to joining CIGNA, Priti worked in the mental health field at Child & Family
Guidance Center, a non-profit agency, where she was a project manager. She was
responsible for assigning cases to therapists and providing on-going case
management services for children and adults.
Priti received her bachelor of arts degree in psychology from University of Texas
based in Dallas, TX in 2006.

Tonya
Personal Advocate

Prior to joining CIGNA, Tonya completed an internship at Dallas One-stop
Optimized Re-entry Services (DOORS), a non-profit organization, where she
conducted intake assessments and interviews. Tonya provided on-going case
management support for a diverse, underserved population of clients.
Tonya received her master of arts in forensic psychology from Argosy University,
Dallas and a bachelor of arts in psychology with a minor in criminal justice from the
University of North Texas in 2007.
