Faculty Advisors: Gisselle - we need 1 faculty advisor and 1 advisor from professional
association. History NYASNA. No longer affiliated with NYASNA. We now have
consultants (have 2 year terms). Reaching out to ANA NY - nurses. We may have
someone from ANA NY to serve as a consultant for NSANYS. *Do you know any
faculty advisors (current full time nursing faculty). Professional consultant needs to

NSNA Summer Leadership Conference: agenda - August 1st, 8:30 pm- 4:00 pm.
Problem solve, network, personal and professional development. for members and
nonmembers. Continental breakfast. Welcome intro from Dr. Manchino. Leadership
development, what is fiduciary responsibilities. There will be workshops: NSNA
communications, bylaws and policies, breakthrough to nursing, community health
and disaster preparedness. How to run for national office. NSANYS does not
reimburse for travels. Get involved! Get local chapters come Regional Directors!
NSNA Annual Convention Phoenix, AZ: NSANYS will budget 7 board members (Goal:
sign up 10,000 students). Regional directors got membership brochures.
Midyear conference Portland, Oregon: November 6th-9th, 2014. (airfare about $500)
Book on weekdays (cheaper). Board members are required to go (plan ahead of
time). Regional Directors: goal - get 240 members in your area to sign up for NSNA in
order for you to go to convention.
Summer availability: Google Poll day and time
Excused absence: clinical & job only
NSANYS website: ‘Start a chapter’ link has outdated membership brochure
Go to www.nsna.org to become a member (easiest way, as opposed to mailing
papers in)
Updated dues: $40/year $80/2 years
T-shirts: to represent NSANYS at events. Can raffele them at conventions. (propose
designs and vote on them on next meeting)

Reimbursement: gas 41 cents/mile. Print out google map showing route and mileage.
Need reimbursement form attached with receipt. Fill it out before or during meeting.
If taking train, attach receipt. If using metro card, purchase on that day with date and
time on it. If no receipt, no reimbursement.
State budget: in progress. Last year state spent 27k-28k. We are not going to midyear today. National convention - airfare is more expense so we have to work harder.
Budget $750 for pins.
Budget: we lost our non-profit organization status which exempts us from paying
taxes. We are working on getting it back.
It takes 6 months to process it, it may not be completed during our term. Due June
11, 2015.
We didn’t pay taxes this year.
We need a CPA, certified public accountant (max allowance is $500). A lawyer is too
expensive
Motion made to spend $850.00 to pay for the non-profit application for United States
Treasury for Non-profit status - Form 1024. Voted yes unanimously with 7 votes.
Submitted by Bena Du. Unanimous agreement. None opposed.
If all board members are deceased, where do the (60k) funds of NSANYS go?
o We want the funds to go to a scholarship (Foundation for NSNA) for a nursing
students in NYS. The funds will abide for FNSNA rules and regulations. This
will be added to the bylaws.
o Upon dissolution of Nursing Students Association of New York State nonprofit, all funds would become a scholarship fund, offered to National
Student Nurse’s Association members that apply by the The Foundation of
the National Students Association bylaws, residing in New York State. The
Foundation of the National Student Nurses Association organized exclusively
for charitable and educational purposes, the Foundation awards scholarships
to qualified nursing students. Motion sumitted by Bena Du. First, Emily
Cheng. Second, Sharmila Samwaru. Voted yes unanimously with 7 votes.

submit/suggestions
