would be the price, it’s a little expensive. You can call and make an appointment with Amy Caffrey, the phone number is
listed on her website. I did try to call myself to talk to her in person but there was never an answer, I also tried sending an
email out her and never received a response so that was disappointing about this resource.

I spoke to Dafne at 2:34pm on July 23, 2015. She was extremely helpful. She offered to send me an email with all the information I needed, which arrived the next day with information
about her program but also other programs she recommends.
Outlet provides free, drop-in, and confidential services for LGBTQQ+ ages 10-25. All their services for youth are free, including socials and consultations.
Services are not open to allies, however, if youth decide to bring allies they usually have to ask the members of the space first.
Services are provided in San Mateo, PALY, Gunn High School, Woodside High School, and Mountain View.
Hello Sarah,
In terms of resources for LGBTQQ youth and families their are a couple but not many in the Peninsula and South bay.
1. Outlet (us) we provide free, drop-in, and confidential services for LGBTQQ+ ages 10-25. All our services for youth are free, including socials and consultations. Our services are not open to
allies, however, if youth decide to bring allies they usually have to ask the members of the space first. We provide services in San Mateo, PALY, Gunn HS, Woodside HS, and Mountain View.
For families, we have connections with different groups and people in the area (not many).

2. One amazing resource is Judy Van Masdam, she is a therapist I believe who works with a lot of Gender Expansive kids, so we refer kids and parents to her for more resources.
3. Their is also a private support group that Judy is helping run with/for parents of transgender kids. This group is hosted through PFLAG San Jose. I can give out specifics of when, where, and
the time of this group for confidentiality purposes, but if you can connect to PFLAG they will give you more specifics.

4. LGBTQ Youth Space in San Jose and Palo Alto, through Family and Children Services, provides a drop-in space for LGBTQ youth ages 13-25. For the Palo Alto services contact
hchen@fcservices.org http://youthspace.org/
They are currently developing an LGBTQ wellness program for adults so for more information you can contact AMontalvo@fcservices.org
5. The San Mateo Pride Initiative is housed by Behavioral Health and Recovery Services, but honestly I don't know what kind of resources they have, and I am on the initiative and it's still
very limited, but reach out to them, they have a fb and webpage I believe.
I hope this helps a little in guiding you down the right path to more resources. Let me know if I can help with something else.
Best,
Dafne Luna

On July 24, 2015 around 12:30pm I received a call back from Pilar about 24 hours after my initial call. She was very informative,
however seemed apprehensive to give me any solid information. She was not the person in charge of the LGBTQ program but
was knowledgeable about it.
Some interesting information I received was that the Bill Wilson Center offers confidential programs that are open to anyone
with any income in the bay area. The only restriction was the age (12-25) however they also offer some family counseling. They
also offer temporary housing for at risk youth.

Services Provided: Kaiser Permanente has a Health Education Center located at their Santa Clara Medical offices, 710
Lawrence Expressway, Dept 182. The hours are M-F 8:30am-4:30pm. Tablets are available for use in this specific department
along with a representative. There you can use the tablets to navigate various links on their websites and gather further
information. Believing in the strictest of confidentiality they refer all members to use online services preferably the health &
wellness tab on their home page which will redirect you to such links as the health encyclopedia and also various programs
such as classes, therapy and support groups, and individual counseling under their sexual health link. However upon my
request of her service in finding an LGBT friendly doctor during my meeting with Rosalinda Sandoval, the Member Outreach
Specialist, not only was she not familiar with the term LGBT, I was under the impression she was also discouraging me to seek
out a specific doctor as well. She actually referred me to the psychiatry department.
