PACE 2 – P scale Assessment
English, Maths, Science and PSHE & Citizenship
“Performance Levels or ‘P Levels’ provide a means of assessing the attainment of pupils working towards Level 1 of the National Curriculum. The PACE2 Scheme
offers a series of assessment tasks for every strand of every P Level in the areas of English, Maths, Science and PSHE & Citizenship. In this way it is possible
to measure the P Level attainment of pupils rather than use best fit judgements. This promotes greater reliability of assessments. Within Swansea a pilot group
have also assembled boxes of resources to carry out the assessment tasks. PACE2 includes tasks up to and including Level 2a of the National Curriculum.”
CD ROMS are available from EQUALS. A link to their website can be found below.
http://equals.co.uk/pace-2-p-scales-assessment/
PSkills Online Assessment
PSkills is an online assessment tool used in Swansea LEA that has been developed from a project set up in 2004/2005 to consider ways of assisting schools and the
LEA in providing clear evidence of pupil progress and a common and consistent mechanism for doing this.
A Tracking Steering Group was set up:
STF (MLD and ASD) staff in Clase piloted PACE materials
Morriston (MLD) and Clwyd (MLD and ASD) also became involved
The P scales Targets were mapped to Foundation Phase Outcomes 1 to 6
The outcome was ‘PSkills’ a web based computerised record keeping and report writing tool for the P scales which incorporates references to both
Pscales and Foundation Phase.
For further information see the link below:
http://www.ephub.uk/senco.ppt
For a demonstration video about how to use PSkills see the link below:
http://youtu.be/MH9HFEXGGyw
NB: For statutory guidance on P scales that applies to England, see the document link below:
