Northfield Fastpitch Softball Association
Board Meeting
The board meeting was held at Beef O’ Brady’s and was called to order at 6:32 PM
Members Present: Jason Rieck, Wayne Vasilis, Pam Bicek, Juli Standfuss, Rich Guggisberg, Amy Olson
and Mark Pritchard.
A motion was made by Pam and seconded by Jason to add Dan Deanovic to the board. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Juli and seconded by Amy to approve the minutes from the Dec 7, 2010
meeting. Motion carried
Website:
Minutes will be posted on the website after they have been approved at the following board meeting.
Jason says the website is at about a quarter of its potential. Many things still to put on it. Would like to
build a data base to be able to do registrations on it in the future.
Talked about having business sponsor the Northfield Fastpitch and get a link to their website and
recognition on t-shirts for a fee.
We have a facebook site – be sure to add them as a friend.
Financial Status:
Went over checkbook balance. Everything is paid up to this point.
Paid the fees for the website.
No expenditures for the next 60 days.
Fundraising:
Amy contacted Cub Foods and the Saturday before the Super bowl had been given to another org. We
are on the calendar for April 3rd (day before Easter) 10-2, Amy will try to get Saturday Jan 23rd. If that is
not possible we will get another Sunday in February from 12-4
A letter was revised to send to potential business sponsors. Each board member will take some and
hand deliver to business in Northfield.
Applebees no longer does Pancake breakfasts, but will do a benefit for an organization and give 15% of
the receipts on a specific night. The organization needs to advertise this. Beef O’ Bradys does the same
thing. It was decided that we will Do Beef O’ Brady’s first.
By-Laws:
Discussed some amendments to the by-laws relating to family members on the board at the same time
and that the board needs to get info at least 7 days prior to any voting.
Misc:
Open gym times are on Fridays at the Middle School from 3-6 and open to grades 6-12.
Northfield Tournament has been set for June 12 and 13. We will open it up to U12, U14 and U16.
Guarantee 3 games per team. Must have a minimum of 4 teams for each age bracket to run the
tournament for that bracket. Rich will make up flyer and send to fast sports and the contacts for other
teams.
Jason will lock in fields for the upcoming season.
Mark and Rich will attend the Southern Minnie meeting on February 21st in Austin.
Would like to get in the following tournaments for each age braket:
U-16 - Northfield, Zumbrota, Austin and State.
U-14 – Northfield, St Paul, Austin and State
U-12 – Northfield, Austin and State
Coaching:
U-12 – Parent coach
U-14 – Paid coach
U-16 – Paid coach
Each coach will have a criminal background check unless they have a school affiliation that has
conducted that already.
Need a list of potential players in each age bracket. Dan will look at what we have for a data base and
put this together.
Rich will contact Shari for the mission statement we started and her keys.
Will also contact Renatta for hers.
Table new popcorn popper for future meetings
Jason expressed being over whelmed with facilities, website and equipment. Dan will take over
facilities.
Rich has contacted Mike Peterson for the netting but has been unsuccessful with a response. Will
continue to get a hold of him.
