Task 1: Skopelos is one of the northwest islands of the Aegean and it belongs in Sporades complex. Skopelos is based on the tourism of the island that is why there are lots of hotels’ categories and rooms to let in every spot of the island. The large population of hospice units, other lodgings and coffee/bars has positive and negative factors that affect the hospitality industry of the island. Firstly, the positive factors will be analyzed. Skopelos is one of the greenest islands in Greece, it has some of the most beautiful beaches and coves in the Greek Aegean Sea. Most lodgings have the opportunity of being in a very good land spot that gives an unforgettable view from all the rooms. Also, there are four options to reach Skopelos, direct flight to the airport on neighboring Skiathos, a flight to Athens and a connecting flight to Skiathos, the combined buss-ferry route from Athens via Agios Konstantinos and a ferry from Volos. Finally, Skopelos has a large development in technology by using social media to expend the island’s facilities, lodgings and history. That gives to the island the opportunity of growth in financial markets in Greece but to abroad too. On the other hand, there are some negative factors too. For example, local goods become more expensive because tourists will pay more. Also, routes ships from Thessaloniki are not longer available and that costs a lot to the hospitality industry of the island because Thessaloniki’s port had many tourists from northern Greece that they wanted to visit Skopelos and by that provide the island’s tourism. However, Skiathos, the island on the west side of Skopelos, is more developed on media expansion in Greece but abroad too. That is competitive because tourists prefer Skiathos even if Skopelos has better facilities to offer. Task 2: It is important for a hospice unit to win the competition between others and the only way to succeed it is by making better facilities and services. At Skopelos there are two types of lodging, rooms to let and resort hotels located near the sea shore or hill station that cater people who want to relax and enjoy their vacations. There are hotels from five to one star. For example, “Skopelos Holidays Hotel & Spa” is a 5-star hotel which consists of 48 rooms from double rooms to family rooms and bungalows that can fit up to seven people. All the rooms are fully furnished. It also offers a series of services and benefits to its gests. Some of them are: wellness center, spa services, children’s recreation facilities etc. “Adrina Beach Hotel” is a 4-star hotel and consists of 42 rooms and 10 maisonetes with capacity of 104 beds. Some of the services of the hotel are: pool, pool bar, spa, restaurant, buffet etc. “Blue Suits Hotel” in a charming 3- star property that offers 16 comfortable and well equipped rooms. The hotel has: safe, in house dining, in house bar, wake up service, dry cleaning/laundry service etc. “Aeolos Hotel” is a 3-star hotel and it is provided by its location which is in front of Skopelos bay. It has 57 rooms and 3 suits on its 3 floors. It has laundry services, safe boxes, free parking, main bar, 24hs reception desk etc. “Rigas Hotel” is a modern recently renovated 3-star hotel which is consists of 50 rooms, 20 studios and suits. The accommodation’s facilities are: central pool and private pools, pool bar, Wi-Fi in all areas, music nights etc. “Sunrise Village” is a 2-star hotel close to the sea with 16 studios and 14 apartments. Hotel’s facilities are: swimming pool, safety boxes, wireless internet, free parking etc. “Thea home Skopelos” is 1-star hotel it has five types of rooms: double rooms with sea view, family rooms with mountain view, single rooms with sea view, single room with garden view and triple room with sea view. Some of the facilities are complimentary breakfast, rooftop terrace, picnic area, secretarial services etc. All the different types of hospitality organizations that have been analyzed above showed that every single one of them, besides the main facilities that one hotel must have, has some differences on its services and that makes the greatest hotels to be provided. The nature of the products that offered from every industry separately in order to face competition is similar with what the organization wants to show and how pleased want to make its guests. Task 3: Skopelos Holidays & Spa is situated in an especially beautiful landscape, where the blue sea blends with the green forest few kilometers away from Skopelos town/Chora. The hotel’s spaces are tasteful both on the outside and inside with conferences facilities events and a restaurant. The hotel has 48 rooms. The prices of the room dependents on the season of booking, the type of the room and the facilities that every room has to offer. Because of the luxury services and the high quality of every room and its special design the prices are high. These prices are based on the features, location and the amenities of the rooms and provide the benefits of the operation. However, the operation in order to succeed better sales in 2013, offers with minimum four nights continuous stay in any type of accommodation complimentary the passengers’ ferry tickets from Volos or Agios Konstantinos or Kymi ports straight to skopelos island. This offer is an amazing promotion plan for the hotel especially because it is all over the media but also because ferry tickets are too expensive the summer period. Also, “Skopelos Holidays Hotel & Spa” is on continual guest for enchantment in every service that they provide. They understand that the difference is found on the details and that same of life’s most cherished memories are the result of brief but pleasant transfer to and from the hotel, in their luxurious Porsche Cayenne, will be one of the unforgettable things of their accommodation. “Skopelos Holidays Hotel & Spa” is known for its great location and the excellence quality of services, the online reservation system via their own website, their excellent and well- trained employee team which has attend special seminars from executive managers, it supports the environment and that is why is recycling its garbage. Although, country’s high taxis of every facility of hospitality industries can identified as a weakness to the hospice unit. The existence of other lower cost competitors is a threat to “Skopelos Holidays Hotel & Spa” because tourists will prefer something with less money and facilities than more money and better facilities. Task 4: “Agnanti” coffee-restaurant is in Glossa village in Skopelos Island. It is known to be the best about the amazing view over the Aegean Sea and the mountain behind. It has the ability to host maximum 40 people. Because of the owners inspiration the Taverna quickly developed a reputation for its great food and service. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, the decoration is unique and classic and the combination of those two o number of visitors and critics have been inspired to write articles, novellas, poems and songs. The Taverna often used to host functions and parties, including marriages and baptisms. “Agnanti” has been recognized as one of the best restaurants in the Aegean and has been supported be the EU Leader 2nd programme, as it occupies a unique position in Sporadesthat of a Traditional Skopelotian Restaurant. Today the business has passed into a new era of flavor and culinary creation. The restaurant offers a mixture of traditional recipes and new-inspired dishes, using fresh, organic, and local ingredients combined to give their guests an unforgettable experience. Despite the fact that the management and the staff of the coffee-restaurant are the owners themselves because it is a family business they all are well trained from the lower level to the highest. “Agnanti” has an excellent location and the point that the owners combined the restaurant and the coffee makes them one of the most likable and wanted destination of food and beverages at the Sporades complex. In conclusion: Skopelos has a logo that identifies the island “Greece at first sight” and reflects the image of it. All the lodgings, restaurants and bars have planned their manager and marketing strategies to fight the competition and every one of them is trying to provide as good as it can its products and services. In order to keep their guests and their brand names most of the industries are using marketing tools of marketing audit, PEST and SWOT analysis and marketing mix techniques. This strategic of using those marketing tools make their companies to walk the road of success in the local area and maybe abroad too.
