Dear Junior Student and Family:
Spring semester of junior year is the timeframe in which most of our students take college admissions tests for their fall college applications. You will have an opportunity to take an ACT Plus Writing in school on Tuesday, March 3, at no cost to you. Registration information will be sent separately. You may also consider taking the SAT as part of a college admission process. Your score on standardized college entrance exams affects your acceptance by the college of your choice. Additionally, colleges often award financial aid to students based upon their college entrance exam score.
Taking a test prep course may raise your test score, thus increasing your opportunities not only for college acceptance but also for financial aid.
Oak Park and River Forest High School hosts optional classes run by private companies that specialize in test preparation for college entrance exams. Please review the enclosed materials and the information below. Note that all programs offer need-based financial assistance.

Additional ACT online prep is available at no cost to students. To pick up your unique login information, stop by Room 372A.

SAT offers online preparation which you can purchase at www.collegeboard.com/student .
You and your parent/guardian must decide whether or not to enroll in a test prep course, and, if so, which one.
Your counselor can help you decide what is most appropriate for you.
Students who enroll in a test preparation program must register separately to take the actual test.
Registration packets for both the ACT and SAT exams are available at your counselor’s office. Check pages
13 and 14 of the 2014-15 OPRFHS Academic Catalog (available on the OPRFHS website) for more information under topics “College Testing” and “Test Preparation.” Online registration for college entrance exams also is available for ACT at www.act.org
