Third & Fourth Grade News Arctic Animals, Antarctica, Decimals, Expressions, Glaciers January 14th – January 18th Dear Families, As the cold weather remains with us this week it is appropriate that we are discussing arctic animals, glaciers and freezing temperatures! The students completed a beautiful mural outside our classroom last week about snow and winter. I will add the pictures to our web page. The Reading Benchmark for second trimester is next week so we will focus on test taking skills and multiple choice answers in reading and homework. We will not have new spelling/vocabulary words or a new reading story NEXT week to prepare even more for this assessment. We are starting a new math routine! Every one or two days the students will have a Daily Fact to memorize. This fact will be located in the HW / Communication sheet. If possible, please ask your child this fact throughout the evening (and review previous facts). You can quiz them in many ways! For example, if the fact is 3x6=18, you can ask them word problems such as, “if you have three bags with 6 stickers in each bag, how many stickers are there altogether?” Or, you can simply ask them the facts periodically. I will also send flash cards home again soon!
