Overcoming Persistent Worrying
Wednesday, April 18, 2012
12-1pm, NPI Auditorium (Semel Institute)
Worrying can be helpful when it spurs us into
action to solve a problem. When we become
preoccupied with “what if’s” and worst-case
scenarios, worry becomes a problem of its own.
The good news is that worrying is a mental habit we can learn to break.
We can train our brain to stay calm and collected and to look at life from
a more balanced perspective. Dr. Jeanne Segal is a sociologist,
psychologist, and author. She is also the editorial director of
Helpguide.org, a free online mental health resource. She focuses on
empowering people to bring about life altering social and emotional
change.
