Academics are experts
16
Read widely: academic papers
and the news
17
What’s a lecture?
Lectures are a live experience – you need to be present
Lectures are never just what is on the slide
Courses are never just what is said in lectures
Lectures are the starting point for your own independent research
18
What’s a seminar? What’s an
advisor?

Why do emails matter?
