Continental appoints new general manager in Sibiu
 Dr. Sami Krimi, new General Manager, has a long experience working with Continental
 Oswald Kolb, former General Manager, receives plant management position in
Tianjin/China
Sibiu, Romania, September 16th, 2014. The international automotive supplier, tire producer and
industry partner Continental changes the management of its Automotive location in Sibiu with its
more than 2,800 employees. Mr. Oswald Kolb leaves Sibiu after six years. He will assume the
position of plant manager of Continental in Tianjin, China. His successor is Dr. Sami Krimi. He has
almost 12 years experience in Continental.
“I am very glad to be in Sibiu as General Manager of this location. The organization I’ve found here
is a mature one, with the right mindset and culture in order to attract the latest projects and
meeting the demands of our customers. I’m looking forward to working with Continental Sibiu team
and further develop our business. I would like to take this opportunity and wish Mr. Kolb a lot of
success in his new assignment”, said Dr. Sami Krimi.
“In the last years Continental Automotive Systems Sibiu had a remarkable development in sales
as well as in R&D performance. Meanwhile we are grown up to one of the biggest locations within
the Continental Network for research and development as well as production for the automotive
industry. Basis of this success was the dedication of our employees in their daily work. The
ongoing extensions in the infrastructure and planned new projects will ensure further growth of the
location and safe jobs for the employees. I am convinced that CAS Sibiu will continue on his way
to highest customer satisfaction and stakeholder value. Personally I had more than 6 exciting
years here and I will keep this location, and especially the colleagues in Sibiu, in my best
memories. I wish all off them and also to my successor the best for the future,” was the farewell
message from Oswald Kolb.
Dr. Sami Krimi studied mechanical engineering with focus on construction and development with
TU München (University of Technology Munich). Since 2010 Dr. Krimi is the plant manager of the
leadplant product line high pressure pumps in BU Engine Systems. During his time in Roding, the
plant received several awards for “customer quality”, “Kaizen best in class”, “CIM award Germany”
and the business acquisition of major projects with German OEMs.
-2Continental started its activity in Sibiu in 2003, in close relationship with the local University „Lucian
Blaga”. From a start up team of no more than 30 employees the company in Sibiu has created
more than 2800 jobs. Out of these, 800 are for engineers and 250 for technicians. Future plans of
the company include extension of production and research and development activities and hiring
more than 1000 new employees in the next years. Continental develops and produces electronic
units for the automotive industry in Sibiu. Some of the products developed here are the intelligent
braking and driver assistance systems and the accelerator pedal with speed limitation in case of
obstacle detection in front of the vehicle. In the production plant, the engineers, technicians and
operators apply the newest industrial technologies. Each month, the plant manufactures more than
two million of control units for the automotive industry.
