Malco Products, Inc., headquartered in Barberton, Ohio is a family owned Chemical Specialties Manufacturer
with facilities located in Barberton, Alliance and Akron, Ohio. Malco Products, Inc. manufactures and markets
automotive proprietary products, along with performing contract manufacturing services for a number of Fortune
500 companies including – Reckitt Benckiser, Church & Dwight, Shell/Penzoil, SC Johnson, Procter & Gamble,
Clorox and WD-40. Our proprietary product line includes products designed for professional automotive use, along
with consumer household cleaning products. Current proprietary divisions are: Malco Automotive, Presta, PPI,
Whiz International, Twinkle, Mr. Coffee coffeemaker cleaner, nuSoft, Linit and Zud.

We are in need of a talented individual to fill the role of Product Manager. The individual in this role will be part
of our dynamic Sales and Marketing Group and will be working out of our corporate offices located in Barberton,
Ohio. This position will be primarily responsible for managing the Malco Automotive and Presta product lines and
coordinating activities related to the product lines with sales, marketing, research & development and
manufacturing.
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
1. Manages the product line

Develops annual Malco and Presta product plans, reviews with management and implements

Solicits new product ideas from a broad range of internal and external personnel

Oversees new products from inception through market introduction

Manages products through the life cycle and recommends line changes (additions, deletion,
enhancements)

Determines how existing products are positioned within a category (i.e., performance, pricing)

Reviews sales and gross margin for all products and categories
2. Provides direction to R&D on new product development and existing product enhancements

Evaluates competitive products and documents results

Gathers input from sales, distributors and end users

Defines product performance parameters and develops product profile

Tests products to ensure they meet the performance parameters and documents results

Develops and implements internal and external testing and evaluation plan. Provides
documentation for results

Provides recommendations on pricing based on competitive and internal analysis
3. Drives external testing process and product information sources

Establishes and maintains relationships with external testing personnel and sites

Establishes and maintains relationships with OEM paint manufacturers
4. Conducts and manages the competitive product evaluations on an ongoing basis

Performs all competitive product performance evaluations and creates appropriate cross
reference charts or other data

Evaluates new product performance (internal and external) and documents results

Researches new products / processes that would be relevant to Malco and tests them
5. Provides product training to field and sales personnel
6. Works with suppliers to evaluate and recommend outside purchases (i.e., aerosols, accessories)

Contacts suppliers and obtains samples for testing

Performs internal testing and / or field testing; documents results
7. Assists in the development of all collateral materials

Provides meaningful features and benefits for labels, catalogs, sell sheets, scripts, etc.

Writes monthly articles for Malco Pro Tips and Presta Newsletters
8. Works closely with sales, R&D, customer service and management to ensure sales, gross margin and
customer satisfaction goals are met
9. Attends trade show or enthusiast events to identify new product opportunities
10. Understands and follows Malco’s Quality Policy, Quality Objective and Quality Management System,
which includes participation on QIT Teams
11. Supports and follows Malco’s policies, practices, guidelines and solutions
The requirements listed below are representative but not all inclusive of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability
required:













Candidates considered will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Engineering, with an
MBA – Marketing concentration – preferred.
Minimum of 3 years experience in a Product Manager role in a manufacturing environment.
Strong Project Managements skills with a clear understanding of timelines are required.
Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels, present to a variety of audiences (internal and
external) and work well with peers.
Must be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment.
PB&E / Automotive Reconditioning experience is a plus, but not required.
Must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and / or in a cross-functional work
team environment.
Attention to detail and ability to follow-up is critical / strong sense of urgency.
Demonstrates positive energy, confidence and optimism; an energizing leadership style; is collaborative;
has a “can-do” “can-help” attitude; creates a positive work environment and fosters morale.
A working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Ability to travel – up to 25% monthly; both domestic and international.
Fluent in Spanish is a plus, but not required.
Proven communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects / objectives in a goal oriented
environment.
