Homework Menu for October (2nd version) Name __________________________________ Directions: Pick out one activity to do each night. When finished, write the activity next to the date in your child’s agenda (on the left side on the BIG lines). Please sign the yellow box on the right page in the agenda. If your child struggles, please let me what they struggled with. KEEP THIS MENU FOR THE WHOLE MONTH. If you lose it, please let your child’s teacher know. Write a word problem for the class to solve. Write your numbers from 1 to 120. Check for backwards numbers and fix them. (SMART Goal and report card skill) Practice counting backwards from 100 to 0. (SMART Goal and report card skill) Could set timer on microwave and have student count back with the timer. Give 4 minutes and have student list all combinations (ways to make) 5 and 10. Report Card skill Card Addition Make 10 Match Take a deck of cards. Take out the Jack, Queen, and King. Pick two cards out of the rest of the deck and add them together. Write the equation to match. Create 10 equations. Take a deck of cards. Take out the 10, Jack, Queen, and King. Place the remaining cards face down on the floor. Play like memory but instead of matching cards- try to make combos to 10. Play alone or with someone. Practice reading various numbers up to 1000. Practice reading number words for the numbers zero to twenty-one. (write numbers down on paper and have child read to adult. Many students struggle with teen numbers, numbers with a 1 in the ones place (example: 41, 51)) (SMART Goal and report card skill) (This is a SMART goal/Report cards skill for students to be able to recognize/read 15 words) Count backwards from 120 by 10s (100, 90, 80…). Do this at least 2 times. (note: this is called on decade) Count forwards by 10s off decade starting with various numbers. Flash the cards or call out the facts and have the student call out the answer. The goal is to get faster and faster so the student can do it within a snap.
