Ways to reduce added sugars to your diet
Many Americans today have a goal to
lose weight or eat healthy and there are a
number of ways to complete these goals.
Eating healthy and working out takes great
dedication and determination. Most people
feel the need to acquire a wellness coach,
trainer, or a nutrition specialist to help them
succeed.
One of the key factors for reducing
weight is nutrition. Individuals can work out
as long as they want, but if they aren’t eating
the correct foods or eating too much of the
same foods can result in obesity or other
health problems such as hypertension, high
cholesterol, type 2 diabetes and more.

There are many ways to reduce added sugars
to an individual’s diet. It is very crucial that people
recognize what they are consuming by looking at the
nutritional facts on the labels. A number of people
do not take this seriously which could cause an
increase in weight more rapidly. Another way is to
try and substitute sugary drinks with water. Sugary
drinks contain enough calories per serving to make
a difference in a person’s weight if their unaware of
the excess calories. Also, people can keep a record
of their calorie intake. Keeping a journal makes
people more aware and lets them know where they
are with their calorie count. These steps can be very
difficult for some people; however, if they take one
step at a time it would make a difference. On
another note, people need to know that everyone’s
body is different, for example one person may
consume soda and snacks and may not receive any
weight gain due to their metabolism or genetics. On
the other hand people could suffer the bad effects of
metabolism or genetics.

The nutrition fact label on the right shows
what people need to limit and what they need to
increase. As mentioned before the food label is
very crucial and people need to check it before
consuming any foods or drinks. The picture below
is a guideline of what people should eat and their
portion size. Notice that there are no sugary items
on the diagram besides the natural sugars that
people receive from the fruit.
