examinations consist of four (4)
module tests, each composed of 50
multiple-choice questions with a 90minute time limit

Testing Information
 Method of Completion
 There are several methods of certification testing:






Self-study with testing provided by a selected proctor
Self-study with special arrangements for testing through
your employer’s human resource department
Group study through your local chapter
Certification courses taught by an NPMA professional
instructor
On-line review courses available through the NPMA
website
Intensive material review at an NPMA National
Educational Seminar or a regional conference/seminar
Note: Because of the volume and difficulty of the material, we strongly
recommend that candidates study prior to attending review sessions
or courses

Testing Information
 Testing Schedule and Expiration Dates
 One or more tests may be ordered at the same time
 Tests are created with issue and expiration dates
 Candidates have 90 days from the issue date to take
each test
 The CPPM Essay Examination is not issued until all
four module tests (CPPS & CPPA) have been
successfully completed
 Work Experience Summary has been evaluated as
having met the eligibility requirements
 If more than 30 days have passed since the expiration
date, a new test will have to be purchased at full price

Test Issuance
 Tests are issued to an Approved Proctor
 AFTER Work Experience Summaries for
CPPA and CPPM are approved
 All candidates will receive notification that
the tests were sent
 Candidates are responsible for contacting
the proctor to schedule the administration of
the test(s)
 If exams are not taken within 90 days,
candidates must request a resubmission

 All candidates will be notified in
writing of their exam results within
two weeks of NPMA National Office
receipt from the proctor
 This notice includes the tests, scores,
and pass/fail results
 Unsuccessful candidates will receive a
summary report that lists further

Appeals process
 Within 60 days after receipt of the Test
Result Notice, unsuccessful candidates
may request in writing that the
Certification Appeals Board review their
examination
 No one other than the candidate may
make the appeal
 The Certification Appeals Board shall
respond to the candidate within 60 days
of receiving the appeal

Retest
 If a candidate fails to achieve a test score
equal to or above 76% (for CPPS and
CPPA), he/she may take the test again
 If the candidate fails to successfully PASS
the CPPM Essay Exam (situational
judgment), he/she may retake the test
 Candidates must complete the
Certification Testing Application
requesting a retake and forward with
payment to the National Office
 There are no limits on the number of
times candidates may retake the exams
