However, the CCAAC has been without a Director for nearly one year and the two Unit Coordinator Positions are vacant. One of which has been vacant for nearly five months. It is my understanding the Section Coordinator was recently promoted to his current position from Unit Coordinator of the same office. However, due to the center’s lack of management and staff, the Section Coordinator has been managing programs, events and activities and therefore, has limited time for data collection and storage. Tasks A new director would be tasked with hiring two Unit Coordinators and creating a data management system. Inherit Findings Programs The Cross-Cultural Academic Advancement Center coordinates a multitude of events which promote multiculturalism and an awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion excellence. The CCAAC is known for coordinating signature events such as Holi, Lunar New Year, Open Teaching Concept, Difficult Dialogues, and various events hosted by student ambassadors of the Hispanic Scholarship. The CCAAC also partners with numerous student organizations, staff members and the community to host, plan, promote, and fund various events held mostly on the Tech campus to promote a culturally conscious university. Such programs, activities and events have been successfully organized through the CCAAC, however, there is little data as to the programs effect on staff, student and community cultural diversity, nor is there data that details the effort these events have gained in student retention, scholarly research or inclusion excellence. Tasks The new director would be tasked with researching the cultural effectiveness these programs have had on the faculty, staff, students and community, in addition to whether or not the previously stated student learning outcomes have been appropriately stated and proven valuable. In addition, the new director would be tasked with creating new culturally diverse programming that would foster the University’s strategic plan to further inclusion excellence. Inherit Findings Budget The Cross-Cultural Academic Advancement Center’s budget, outside of salary and expenditures, has historically been a resource of funding for various cultural diverse events hosted both at Texas Tech and in the surrounding community. The current CCAAC administrative assistant has kept an expenditure log which details funding both in operating and student expenditures. Tasks The new director would be tasked with locating data that would support the CCAAC’s funding effort, whether or not to continue funding historical events and prospecting the need for funding new and innovative culturally diverse programs that further the CCAAC’s mission. Inherit Findings Data The Cross Cultural Academic Advancement Center currently has no definitive data storage. Although certain past events have had limited data collection, there is no centrally located data storage area. The new director would find it difficult to find contact information for previous and future events, locations for these events, attendance numbers, cost and funding contributions, student learning outcomes and faculty, staff, student and community perception on whether or not these events are culturally diverse and therefore support the University’s mission and vision. Tasks The new director would be tasked with creating both a digital and tangible data management system. In addition, the director would be tasked with gathering data regarding previous events and programs in an effort to create a new data management system which will be centered around current staff members’ verbal recollection of previous events and limited tangible data tracking to date.
