Facebook Advertising Campaign
As part of the course, you will be required to pay
$15.00 to Facebook per student to run a Facebook
Advertising Campaign. You will pay using a credit
card directly to Facebook on behalf of your
consulting company.




Course Objectives Highlights
Read and understand the concepts and
theories behind Social Media Marketing
Learn how to formulate social media marketing
strategy
Create and implement a social media
marketing campaign for a local business or
non-profit
Create a student blog on a niche top of your
choice using WordPress.com
Approach
Class includes lectures, discussions, in-class group
learning, and guest speakers. To ensure you
understand the material and can contribute to class
discussion, you are expected to read the assigned
material prior to the date assigned in the course
schedule. Keeping current with the reading is
essential to your success in this course. You will gain
practical hands-on marketing experience creating
business pages/usernames using the following social
networks: Facebook, Instagram, WordPress, Twitter,
and Pinterest. You will be divided into groups and
assigned a local business. You will write a social
media marketing plan and execute on that plan for
your business. You will also create a student blog
using WordPress. You will present a social media
audit for a company of your choice, and you will
complete 2 course exams.
Attendance and Participation
Students are expected to attend and participate in all
class sessions. Participation includes: answering
questions, interacting with other students, and
participating in team projects using your laptop. The
success of class discussions and in-class activities
depends on preparation and willingness to
participation. Please remember to bring your
laptops, cell phones, and any mobile devices to class.

You will present a eight-minute oral presentation
highlighting the social media marketing of a company

Exams
Social Media Superstar Midterm Exam: You may
use your notes and text to answer the questions on
this exam. Remember the test is timed. You will have
1 hour to complete the exam. You will take this
exam on your own at any location via Canvas. Good
luck as you complete the 50 question exam (35 MTC
questions and 15 True/False questions).
Red Hot Copy Final Exam: You may use your notes
and text to answer the questions on this exam.
Remember the test is timed. You will have 2 hour to
complete the exam. You will take this exam on your
own at any location via Canvas. Good luck as you
complete essay/copy writing exam.
Learning Objectives
MKTG 459 R is the introductory marketing class for
marketing with social media at the WSB. This class
has four marketing learning objectives: SMM
concepts and terms, WordPress blogging, SMM
strategy, and a live engagement project.
