NC Scholarships
Children of NC Veterans
If one or both of your parents served in the U.S. military at a time of war, and is deceased or disabled,
you may qualify for this scholarship. If you live in North Carolina, are a high school senior, and can
provide proof of need for financial assistance, here are a few more details:




Scholarship covers full tuition, plus
up to $2,200 room and board allowance for up to four years in public colleges or universities, or
up to $4,500 room and board allowance for up to four years in private schools.
Minimum 2.0 GPA to receive and maintain the scholarship
The parent must have lived in North Carolina at the time of their enlistment, and you must have been born

Golden LEAF Scholars Program – for Two and Four Year Colleges
These scholarships are awarded to students who will enroll in 2-year NC community colleges or 4-year
NC public universities. In order to be eligible you must be able to provide proof of need for financial
assistance to continue your education. You must also have a good record of scholastic achievement,
proven leadership ability, and be a participant in community service activities. There are multiple awards

Latino Diamante Scholarship Fund
This scholarship is designated to be used for study at certain North Carolina schools, by persons of
Hispanic American heritage, who live in North Carolina. Along with the application you will need to submit
your transcript showing a GPA of at least 2.5, letters of recommendation, and an essay. This award is in
the amount of $750. For more information, visit the website www.cfnc.org.
Legislative Tuition Fund
This is a renewable scholarship intended for use at specified North Carolina private colleges and
universities. To apply you must be a high school senior and live in the state. The amount awarded for
these grants is determined by the state legislature each year. This year, numerous grants will be given, in
the amount of $1,950 each. Get on line to find out which schools are eligible to receive these funds at
www.cfnc.org. Then contact the financial aid office at one of the listed schools to receive an application.
Student Incentive Grant
Funds from this grant may be used at specifically approved schools in the state. In order to qualify you
must live in-state, and be able to provide proof of financial need to continue your education. This is
another situation where many, many of these grants are awarded each year – this year in the amount of

Troy Douglas Carr Scholarship for Criminal Justice
Does the idea of a career in this field fascinate you? If so, and if you live in North Carolina, and can obtain
a nomination from either an active or retired law enforcement officer who lives in the state, then this just
might be the scholarship you’ve been seeking. You will also have to submit an essay, other letters of
recommendation, and your transcript along with your application. This award is in the amount of $2,000,
and you must major in criminal justice or law enforcement to receive it. Go to the website for more

Maya Angelou/Vivian Baxter
This is a renewable scholarship in the amount of $2,500 that can be used at any UNCF approved school
in the U.S. To apply, you must live in North Carolina, have a record of academic excellence, be in need of
financial assistance to go to college, have demonstrated strong leadership abilities, and performed some
sort of community service. To provide proof of financial need, complete the free FSFSA application on

Peter S. Slomianyj Scholarship Fund
This scholarship is for Subway employees or children of Subway employees who have worked at least
1,000 hours over the last 12 months. Students must have a 2.0 GPA in high school or a 2.5 GPA in

NC Alpha Delta Kappa Student Achievement Scholarship
This scholarship is for graduating seniors of a North Carolina high school pursuing a degree at a school of
higher learning. Applicants must have a weighted GPA of 2.5 to 3.5 and an SAT score (including Math,
Verbal, and Writing) in the range of 1344-1560 OR an ACT composite score between 20 and 24. THIS
SCHOLARSHIP IS DESIGNED FOR STUDENTS WITH GRADES AND SCORES FALLING WITHIN

Crumley Roberts Founder's Scholarship
Crumley Roberts awards North Carolina students with scholarships to assist them with college expenses.
To date, the firm has provided nearly $190,000 in scholarships and technology to help college-bound
students reach their dreams. Applicants must plan to attend four-year colleges or universities.
Transcripts, three recommendation letters, applications and essays are required. Winners also receive

This scholarship is available to undergraduate residents of NC attending or planning on attending an
accredited NC college or institution. To be eligible you must a legal resident of North Carolina and have a

Betty Feezor Scholarship Fund
This scholarship fund provides scholarships to students attending college in North Carolina and South
Carolina, majoring in Family & Consumer Sciences. For more information contact: Foundation For The

Minimum Eligibility:
 Declared Family & Consumer Sciences major and full time student.
 Junior status or above, including graduate students with degree, pursuing advanced degrees.
 Cumulative Grade point average— minimum of 2.7 or above on a 4.0 basis.

Grade point ratio in major of 3.0 or above.

Demonstrated leadership — has been successful as an officer or committee chairman (or
equivalent position) in one or more organizations related to major.

Motherless Daughter Scholarship from SHero, Inc.
The Ruby and Kendrel Scholarship Fund was created in memory of the founders' mothers--Ruby Benston
and Kendrel Ross. This scholarship is open to North Carolina young women who have also had the
unfortunate loss of their mother. There are two (2) scholarships available for high school seniors. Each
scholarship is revolving (up to four years) and is in the amount of $2,000 per semester. For more

Martin Luther King Oratorical Contest Sponsored by the Ebonette Club
of Tarboro, NC Inc.
Participants will present a 3-5 minute speech on a selected topic and will be judged on familiarity with
content, deliverance, poise, voice projection and eye contact on Thursday, December 03, 2015.
Scholarships ranging from $100 to $500 will be given to students who place 1 st, 2nd, or 3rd place in the

Elizabeth City State University Scholarships
Incoming students must have a 2.5 high school GPA, 1200 SAT1 score or 17 on the ACT; apply for
financial aid and admissions by March 15th to be eligible for a Foundation Scholarship. Students are
ranked based on their SAT/ACT scores and GPA and are awarded until funds are no longer available.
Most foundation scholarships carry a four year commitment as long as the student maintains a 2.5 GPA

The Jackie Robinson Foundation’s Scholarship Program
This program awards scholarships of up to $7,500 annually to minority high school students. Scholarships

The Gates Millennium Scholars
The Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS), funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, was
established in 1999 to provide African American, American Indian/Alaska Natives, Asian Pacific Islander
Americans, and Hispanic American students with an opportunity to complete an undergraduate college
education in all discipline areas, and a graduate education for those students pursuing studies in
mathematics, science, engineering, education, or library science. Requirements for scholarship
consideration are the following: must be a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the United
States, have attained a cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 on an unweighted 4.0 scale or have earned a

The Dell Scholars Program
The Dell Scholarship Program is offered to high school students participating in an approved AVID
program. The funding for each Dell Scholar is $20,000. The value of the 250 scholarships available
equals $5 million. MSDF funds a significant percentage of college expenses which allows students to
focus on their studies and successfully complete a bachelor’s program. Eligibility requirements:
Graduating from an accredited high school this academic year, earning a minimum of a 2.4 GPA,
demonstrate need for financial assistance, participating in an MSDF approved college readiness program
for a minimum of two years, planning to enter a bachelor’s degree program at an accredited higher
education institution in the fall directly after graduation from high school, and be a U.S. citizenship or

Suntrust Scholarship Sweepstakes
SunTrust is pleased to offer the Off To college Scholarship Sweepstakes where students can enter for a
chance win a $500 scholarship for education expenses at a 2 or 4 year public or private college/university

The GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship
The GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship rewards college bound students who demonstrate exemplary
leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with financial assistance to pursue higher education. Each
year, the program selects numerous recipients to receive a 10,000 scholarship renewable for up to an
additional three years-up to $40,000 total per recipient. Awards are for undergraduate and graduate
study and high school students with a minimum 3.0 GPA. This scholarship may be used for education
related expenses, including tuition, fees, books, supplies, room and board. In addition, scholars are

No Essay Scholarship
The $2,000 “No Essay” Scholarship is open to all students and those planning on enrolling
within 12 months. The monthly winner will be determined by random drawing and then
contacted directly and announced in Niche's e-newsletter and on the Scholarship Winners page.

T The American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program
This is a constitutional speech contest designed to develop a deeper knowledge and
appreciation of the Constitution of the U.S.A. A contestant must give a 3-5 minutes prepared
oration on an assigned topic related to the Constitution of the U.S.A. with an emphasis on the
duties and obligations of a citizen to our government. Scholarship awards are presented to 3
finalist in the national contest as follows: 1st place-$18,000; 2nd place-$16,000; 3rd place-14,000.
Each state winner who qualifies and proceeds to the first round of the nationals will receive a
$1,500 scholarship. Individuals interested in learning more about this contest should contact
