Dear Parents,
Let me start with congratulating Akshay Goel of Grade XII for securing in SAT 800 (Hundred percent) in Math, 750 in
Chemistry and 750 in Physics out of 800. Also his admission in one more US University makes it 3 now. It just falsifies the rumors that IISJ students cannot get admission in any university. This kind of rumor is not good for IISJ. Please note that under Global 30 project only 13 Universities are ready
(with English speaking faculty) to take foreign students. So one must apply to those universities only, rather than giving the bad name to IISJ. Consult the school before you apply.
Next Friday 20 th Feb 9 am Temple University people are coming to brief about their undergraduate program. Parents are welcome to join the briefing.
The History Bee and Bowl competition was conduct with great enthusiasm among students, parents and children. All parents who contributed their time and efforts in making it a success deserve a big thank from IISJ. And of course Mr. Ted did a
good job. The highest point award went to Neel Date of 8th
Grade, but all other students also did well. We Thank Air India for presenting this award to Neel Date.
Previous to this Spelling Bee competition was conducted and students did well. The result are here :-
The school finals for the annual Scripps Spelling Bee competition were held on Thursday, 5 th February.
Class finalists from grades 1 and 2 competed in the first round, with Mourya Anumula (2B) taking third place, Hana Nunosawa
(2B) placing second, and Ansha Rajput (1B) going on to secure first place in a entertaining finale.
In the second round, finalists from grades 3 – 5 competed closely. In the end, Aryan Datta Rasal (4A) took 3 rd place,
Varad Potdar (5A) claimed 2 nd , and 1 st place went to Srija
Reddy (3C). Srija did exceptionally well in managing not only to beat students two grades higher than herself, but also memorizing spellings all the way up to the seventh grade.
Congratulations to her on a well-earned victory.
The third and overall school final was a tense affair, with sixteen class finalists from grades 6 – 8 battling it out for the title of overall school champion, as well as a place at the Japan
Times regional finale. In the end, though, there can be only one
winner, and whilst Arcee Chanco (6A) valiantly gained 3 rd place, and Shreeya Gupta (6A) placed 2nd, it was Abhay Hubballi (6B) who secured the school championship in a nail-biting finish that went down to the final elimination round.
Abhay will go on to represent the school and himself in the
Japan Times regional finals later this year. We hope you will join us in congratulating him and wishing him the best of luck for this competition.
Congratulations to all the students who took part in different stages of the competition and worked so hard to make it such a success. Your efforts did not go unnoticed and we look forward to next year’s Spelling Bee.
